What flowers' scents feed your soul?
Last Thursday, I bought a pink hyacinth for spring, thinking of the poem:
“If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store
Two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole,
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.”
~ Musharish-Ud-Din Sadi
My hyacinth is blooming now, and it perfumes the room, and my soul is uplifted whenever I pass by it.
I love the smell of hyacinths and oriental lilies like Stargazer and Casablanca.
What flowers do you love the fragrance of?

The pair ofViburnums Carlesii that flank my kitchen door spread the odor of vanilla during its two-week blossoming.

It’s very unprepossessing for the other 50 weeks but like all good things, worth it.
The pink lilies-of-the-valley that bloom in the shade, also in the spring. It takes only a few in a little vase to perfume the entire kitchen and dining room.
In our garden we have roses and planted by the front door we have lavender, I love them both :-) What a beautiful question for today honey, and a happy Mothers day to all of our jelly mums huggles xx
I love the scent of Calla Lilies.
There is a casino in Las Vegas that has walls of calla lilies throughout and the aroma of the flowers in there is just divine.
Lilac and these wild roses that grew in my back yard when I was little.
lilacs, lavendar, and hyacynths, if I could spell it. Spring!
Unfortunately I have to be careful of the scented flowers I am around because of my allergies. All growing up my favorites were the Daffadoils and every spring I would have fresh ones in the house but about 7 years I became allergic to their them and now when I see them I want to buy them but I just can’t. So now I am with roses right now at least I havent hit an issue with them.
I would never go with carnations in the house, the scent of carnations remind me of a funeral. They don’t have a bad smell its just a popular filler flower in the arragement at a funeral home.
@gailcalled Those are beautiful!
All: I love lavendar, lilac, lily of the valley as well!
@tinyfaery The smell of an orange orchard in bloom is so delightful!
The San Fernando Valley, where I live, used to be all orange groves. Every neighborhood still has tons of orange trees. My entire neighborhood smells of orange blossom this time if year.
The smell of the top of my two kids’ heads.
Lilacs. I love the smell of orange blossoms, even though I haven’t smelt them in over a decade (well, save for out of a bottle).
My favorite scent of all is the various evergreen scents – pine, balsam, ceder, hollyberry, eucalyptus, mistletoe, juniper berries, holly; basically anything that smells like Christmas trees. I don’t actually associate them with Christmas, but that’s the time of year when the smell is everywhere.
Plumeria. I’ve only experienced the scent on the air in Hawaii. The same tree in Brazil or the U.S. seems to have no scent. I’ve always wondered why. That’s also true of another of my favorites: ginger.
When I was in the deep south, I remember the pleasure I got from sniffing gardenias, camellias and pittisporum. Here we also have fragrant wild honeysuckle; it is considered invasive and a pest.
Jasmine,honeysuckle and roses.:)
My lily trees i planted last summer. They has a flowery spice scent that fills up my bedroom. And my little mock orange bush, beautiful.
@faye: I have been gardening for decades bu have never heard of a lily tree. Can you send a photo? It sounds wonderful.
Lilacs kick ass. Except everytime I smell any flower, my face gets all bloated, my nose runs and my throat is all scratchy. Flowers piss me off. Still, even if that happens, I like Lilacs.
Star jasmine and citrus blossoms. There is truly no flower fragrance as intoxicating as the smell of citrus blossoms.
I have a whole list but I think gardenias are my favorite, it blooms profusely so I snip off a flower put it in a tiny saucer with water and keep one in every room. I also love frangapani, that is heavenly. Next would be mock orange and of course jasmine.
