How do you celebrate a sporting success?

Asked by ucme (50047points) April 3rd, 2011

As a fan I mean, when your team scores a goal/touchdown/homerun, or whatever. Perhaps an individual athlete who you’re rooting for triumphs. Maybe you even won a bet on this particular outcome. What is your immediate instinctive reaction? I act like a neanderthal child myself, lots of whooping & screams of pleasure, jumping around the place, punching the air…...you know…....barely contained madness! How about you? Wild & unabashed, or a quiet, sober, restrained satisfaction?

Yeah, I run around my apartment, shouting, “Yes!”, especially if it was a particularly dramatic victory, like last night’s Oriole game.

I once yelled when my team scored a touchdown and frightened a cat that I was cat sitting. It was lying on the top of the stereo and it jumped up and off so fast, it propelled the lid of the stereo shooting across the room.

Another time I was so excited that the Seahawks won a game, I called my Mom in Seattle to celebrate with her. She answered the phone and I yelled, “Did you see that? Wasn’t it fabulous” and she said “Yes, it was incredible!” By that time I realized I had misdialed and she did too. I had just called some random house in Seattle.

Whenever I score a goal for my soccer team, we all let out pretty scary primal screams :)

Restraint…unless they make a huge effort to kick my @ss,then I drill them back into the dirt with raucous laughter…yeah…that’s it… ;)

I prefer the transitional crouching to standing fist pump! Sometimes with an occasional “wooooo!” thrown in there!
