Do you remember the many questions on safe/unsafe plastics for water bottles, food storage, Nalgene, etc?

There have been some interesting studies and developments. I’ll put links in first answer.

Here’s a summary; http://tinyurl.com/3jdkmj

And one of many from fluther: http://www.fluther.com/disc/466/water-bottles-plastic-glass-stainless-steel-or/

Similar articles in all mainstream media. Canada will probably ban BFA in baby bottles sometime next week. Most canned foods now have an interior lining of BFA (the white waxy, shiny coating). Tomatoes and other acid foods may leach more severely. Buyer beware.

I find it amazing how little our MSM has done to bring issues like this to light; usually, things have to get to “class action lawsuit” status to draw a headline, and in light of political and economic issues, I feel that issues of health and advocacy/watchdogs in journalism are going largely unseen, or under-reported; gail, you understand my personal interest in these topics, so I say thanks for the info :) I too feel there has been a severe lack of coverage of “consumer health” in the news; seems most of the focus these days is fixing problems with pharmaceuticals, and suppressing the long-term effects of exposure, but alas, you know my agenda…so I digress.

In my household, we have removed all plastic storage containers from our cupboards, and use glass products. Same with re-heating in styrofoam (oh, no-no), and will now take an even closer look at packaging and consumables.

Thanks!

MY sister is expanding her veggie gardens and will only eat what she plants and harvests. Just as my grandmother used to do. Luckily, she overplants and I live nearby. Also many, many farm stands here.

Jon; we too are extremely concerned, not just for us, but for the little ones in all families

no do not use plastic or styrofoam in the micorwave it is bad for you only use glass studies say that if you use plastic or styrofoam it cause cancer and other things to the body. I would tell you to us glass only.Tupperwear has some nice things to use in the micorwave also that are not plastic or glass and they work wounderful you might want to look at them if you can.

MSM is one thing. What about the FDA? Isn’t that their whole reason for being? What are they doing to protect us? Not enough, is what it seems like to me…
