Germany, Saxony to be precise. Went there for a function, but turns out it’s a beautiful place, although very boring if staying in one of the little villages. Dresden was impressive.

Block Island. It’s all beach and there is only one central town. What I loved was that the whole island is easily traveled by bike. The only downside is that the only way to reach the island is by ferry.

Japan…when most think of Japan, they imagine the craziness that is Tokyo. But there is amazing countryside to be seen that is absolutely breathtaking! Really looking forward to going back there in June! :-)

I’m in total agreement with sfgirl. My wife and I went to Japan for our honeymoon and loved it. So easy to get around (Shinkansen rules) and so beautiful outside and inside the cities.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
I don’t know if it is swamped with tourists these days but I think we went off season and it was hauntingly beautiful.

Queretaro, Mexico. A beautiful colonial city an hour from the capital but with clean air. Exquisite plazas linked with each other by andadores (no-traffic streets), fabulous
restaurants, amazing museums etc. Felt like Spain but lighter in tone. Very sophisticated.

Savannah, GA. I loved the architecture and Spanish moss.

Driving in the desert southwest, staying only on two lane roads or dirt roads. The most amazing view of the southwest ever. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, & Utah. The peace, solitude, the beauty of complete darkness when you stop along side the road and kill the lights.

St. Thomas, USVI for the total relaxation it provided.
Grand Junction, CO in the dry winter for the breathtaking beauty of Planet Earth. The National Monument is incredible and inspiring. Also, great wine country out there.
