Not unless the deposits come from the Federal government, and even then not all of the direct deposits will be affected. The shut down of the parks will be the most prominent for most folks.
The people that are applying for SSI and government programs will have to wait until the shut down is over to file.
If they work for the government their paycheck will be delayed until the shutdown is over, but they will be paid for the time.
My father works for the United States Geological Survey, and it is looking like he will not receive pay for a while. We are in the process of remodeling our house and are low on money from that anyway. Other than that, my mom makes a community college math teacher’s wage, and I do some soccer refereeing after school. It is very possible that, if long enough, this one incident might be the thing that puts my family under, so to speak.
In response to WestRiverrat, the government has sent my father explicit instructions not to work, and that he will not be paid if he does.
The last couple times there were government shut downs, Congress authorized back pay for all the furloughed employees. They got paid for not working. I don’t see this one ending any differently.
In all honesty, I hope that this will end the same way.

If you were expecting a tax refund, you won’t get it on time.
If you had an FHA mortgage application in process, you won’t get your house.
If you had plans to picnic at a National Park, you are out of luck.

Here are some ideas from the 1995–6 shutdown
It barely will. . . . the wikipedia article referenced above is a good read. It’s happened alot more frequently than you’re probably aware of. I don’t know why this one is more advertised . . . or maybe it’s to distract you from all the important stuff going on in government lately that they don’t want you to think about . . . . hmmmm.
Well, for anyone that hasn’t seen, they managed to come to an agreement last minute, so no shutdown for now…
