Have an older dell, would like to get all the pictures and important stuff off but the computer runs sooo slow I cant dowload anything, Help?
It takes 10 minutes for the computer to load up. I try to burn things to a cd or tranfer to another form of media and can’t. Is there somewhere where I can take or software tohelp?

Use Parted Magic From boot up, connect your external hard drive and mount it, then find the pictures on the computers hard drive and copy them over.
Parted Magic is a great tool. I carry a copy of it on my keychain drive. It has a CD/DVD burner utility, reads Windows drives (FAT, FAT32, or NTFS; it doesn’t care) and can run from RAM for a nice speed boost.
If you want a CD version., follow the link that @XOIIO gave above.
If you want to try running it from a USB drive then you have to use UNetbootin to create a bootable USB Flash version.
Take the HD out and put it in a newer faster PC as a second drive and the copy everything over to the fast PC HD.
Not the cheapest way to do it, but that also works.
Another possibility I mention merely because a system I recently repair had similar issues is to refresh the drive if it hasn’t been done recently. The system of which I speak hadn’t been defragged since out was made in 2004 so it took forever to boot and wasn’t reliable about reading files. It took all night to defrag, but that made it five times faster. Taking an older version of Norton off and replacing it with something else nearly doubled the speed again.
You may not get the same results, but then again, you might.
