Have you seen the movie "City Of God", and what did you think of it?

I loved it. An interesting film about a subject most Westerners know nothing about.

I thought it was very good. The scene where the little boy gets shot in the foot is horrible – he’s either a very good actor or they did something horrible to him…

It was different in feel since like what @FutureMemory said most Westerners are not familiar with that world. But for some reason I had this feeling it was done before, the development of friendship between tragically flawed characters in that kind of dangerous setting. It’s an evolution of a gangster friendship. Nothing new except the cover. I liked Slumdog Millionaire better.

Which City of God film is the one which is #18 on the IMDB list ? The 2002 film set in Brazil or the recent one (2011) set in India ?

And to which one are you referring ?

I watched this movie a few years ago in university, but I still remember that it really reverberated with me on an emotional level. It’s the age old idea of forbidden relationships. Whether it’s Romeo and Juliet or the two friends from this movie! I really should watch it again.
