Should I create my own Q&A service?

There are several enhancements for Fluther that have been brought up for discussion. All threads are posted in the Meta section.

I have witnessed and partook in many failed attempts to do what you may want to do. Not as easy as it looks. Building it doesn’t mean that they will come or stay if they do.

It is pretty easy to toss one together with Wordpress and the Buddypress plugin. You can get the basic functionality done in 30 minutes. This has questions, answers, avatars, and chat. It is heavily modified but the basics could be put together fast if you know how to install wordpress.

What would make your Q&A site different though. I don’t think it is the mechanics of the site that makes Fluther work as much as the community and way the rules are applied. I think the real strength is the people though.
