Just an aside regarding the Russian anthem – back in the day when burning CDs and downloading music was newfangled and amazing, Mr. Fiance and his friend drove around town with the windows down blasting the anthem. I wasn’t there, but I guess it was funny, seeing as how they still talk about it.

Another vote for Oh Canada, and also Le Marseillaise.

I like Le Marseillaise too. I think the Italian national anthem is my favourite. It has a good solid opening, and then half way through it ups a gear and launches in to a completely different tune.
