Should you still stuff a vented speaker box?

Asked by Jeremycw1 (1370points) April 13th, 2011

I am building a vented subwoofer box for a Kicker Pro Comp 10”. I was wondering if filling the vented box with insulation would help the sound any, or if it defeats the purpose of a vented box. Thanks!

That would definitely defeat the purpose of the vents.

I think the sound insul. is for sealed speakers to eliminate standing waves. Maybe you can try it to see if there is improvement or not.

I would not hesitate to “line” the speaker box but I would not fill as that would restrict air movement!

Filling it would muffle/deaden the sound. Don’t do it!

No insulation. It will hamper the quality of the output. The Dimensions of the enclose based on the Kicker Pro Comp 10”. also have a huge play in the sound quality. But NO insulation!
