Who was your first celebrity crush when you were young?

I saw that SuperMouse asked a question like this about two years ago, but it’s been so long that I thought I’d ask it again.
Do you remember your first celebrity crush? Tell us about him or her. Why did you crush on that person? What was so amazing about him or her?
Bonus points for “then” and “now” photos!

Mine was Jeff the Mannequin from the TVO kids’ show Today’s Special. Man, that guy could dance! He’s always been very flamboyantly gay, but I either didn’t notice or didn’t care when I was four. I planned to marry him, and we could dance all night in Simpson’s department store.
This is what he’s looking like these days (right). I’m pretty sure this photo is from 2009. He’s nearly 60!

Stuart Damon from The Champions. He was very hot!
Lee Crane in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I think that was his name anyway.
And Mark Spitz, the swimmer.
Why… at the time they all seemed very hot and if I look at their pictures, of a type, except that Mark Spitz moustache….
I certainly dooooo….
He is a manly-man….. woof
with piercing blue eyes and a wild temper…...sigh…
I love you Quint :)
The boys from The Outsiders.
C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe (I know I’m missing someone. Haven’t had my coffee yet. ;)
C. Thomas before and now
Matt Dillon before and now
Michael Palin from Monty Python. I would’ve been 7. He just had the sweetest smile. And I’ve met him! He does have that overall air of kindness and decency. Eric Idle was a close second. He was very pretty in his youth, in that “Non-Threatening Boys Magazine” way.
I daresay that Michael is the only one who’s kept his looks into old age (and probably would’ve still been “the cute one” even if Graham Chapman were still alive). I never found either of the Terrys attractive, and John Cleese just seemed a bit scary, though he had lovely deep-set eyes.
There was this donkey, I think it was in a cowboy movie. What a nice ass!
I was fascinated by Cissy (on the left) from Family Affair when I was 8. Didn’t understand why..
@jonsblond – Matt Dillon once bought me and a friend a round at The Dublin House in Manhattan years ago. He lives nearby on, like, West 78th and Central Park West, or something, so that place was his local. I think he was showing off how nice he was to the girl he’d brought with him.
@aprilsimnel It’s good to hear he wasn’t an ass. There was a day a long, long time ago when I thought Charlie Sheen was kind of cute. That crush is long gone now. ;)

Prince Philip from the animated Disney Sleeping Beauty. <sigh>
♥Cleopatra♥
I was just a Celtic kid at the time, but then my dad moved us to Eqypt to escape the harsh winters of Europe.
When I saw her for the first time, I was smitten by her total lack of freckles. ♥☺
After that I think it was Sophia Loren or Connie Francis.
I was a late bloomer when it came to crushes – I never had any as a kid. But as an adult, I would’ve happily been a groupie for Eddie Veder in the early Pearl Jam days. Yum.
These days I drool over Hugh and Robert.
Charlize Theron and Minnie Driver.
@Blackberry
“Charlize Theron”
She’s one of my favorite African-American actors. ;-)
@Seelix Your story reminded me of my first crush, who was also a children’s show host. Sonny Fox, and he was a fox!
Years later I saw him (now a big time executive producer) on a bus returning to the convention hotel from a party at a cable TV conference. The bus was packed and I was standing in the aisle. He was sitting down. I was in my late 20s. I had had something to drink at the party which loosened my lips and I blurted out (loudly enough that everyone turned around) “Wow, you’re Sonny Fox. I had such a crush on you when I was a kid and you hosted Wonderama.”
He looked pained. I am sure he loved being reminded of how old he was. Here is his photo. Still hot.
@Blackberry – Great choice – I think Charlize Theron is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen.
And @Jude – Monica’s not bad either ;)
When I was growing up, I tended to crush more on Disney characters than actual human celebrities. I had it really bad for Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahantas. I guess that explains my preferences toward black-haired chicks with devil may care attitudes who kick ass.
Oh, when I was really young, I had a crush on Cleopatra. Yes. that Cleopatra.
@marinelife – I was futzing around on YouTube for old TV and movie logos, like you do, and I came across a clip of Sandy Becker from the old Dumont station in NYC. Holy moly, that voice. I thought to myself that his SO must’ve purred like a kitten to the sound of it, because I would have, Jaysus, Mairy and Joseph! And also handsome!
Mine was for Shaun Cassidy. That voice, those eyes… How about now? I’m in LUV with Adam Savage from Mythbusters. Jamie’s mustache scares me, but Adam’s personality is addictive!
I had a thing for brunettes with brown eyes (still do). Another crush was Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). I have a photo kicking around somewhere of me in my pink Princess Leia t-shirt. She has the white outfit on, with a black gun, I believe, and her hair is tied back (not those ridiculous honey buns).
I dug her.
You know who is kinda sexy? Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs). He’s manly.
@Jude Half of the female staff at work have the hots for him. I think it’s his flirty personality.
@Jude, I think Mike Rowe is damn sexy and I’m mostly? straight.
The first real crush that I remember was Susan Kennedy in Neighbours but only when she had long hair. When she cut it really short I decided I didn’t like her any more! I was about 9 years old at the time.
Brent Spiner. When I was in kindergarten, Star Trek: The Next Generation used to come on after school, and I liked listening to his lovely, soothing voice. He was cute then and is still attractive now. He just gets more distinguished with age.

@Brian1946, Connie and Sophie were freaking hot back in the day. Your taste is commendable as well, good sir.
@erichw1504, that was the first movie I recall spankin’ it to…
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney) is beautiful. I also think Princess Jasmine from Aladdin (also the Disney version) is a hottie!
When I was six, Harriet the Spy came out and I had a huge crush on Sport who was played by Gregory Smith. My crush was mostly on the character. I didn’t really think about who the actor was. Half a decade later, Smith starred in Everwood and I had an even bigger crush on him then (less on the character by that point.)
As a toddler, I had a crush on Pow Wow, the Indian Boy from the cartoons. I also loved Mighty Mouse. At age 10 or 11, I was in love with Will from Lost in Space. But then the Monkees came on TV, and Davy Jones made me forget everyone else!
Okay, serious answer time. Presenting…. the gal who featured prominently on many a “bangable list.”
don’t tell anyone, I had a secret crush on Donny Osmond, but I knew it wasn’t cool so I kept it a secret. I didn’t like his music, but I thought he was super cute.

@deni – That intense, huh? So hunky, you can’t even stop to punctuate!
I felt like that about Joe Macintyre from NKOTB.
@noelleptc Dov Tiefenbach played Rufus in an episode of Wonderfalls! Hooray for cute Canadians :)
I had a crush on Aaron Carter and Justin Timberlake… :P
I loved the film mannequin and couldn’t get enough of Andrew McCarthy still think he is dishy today!!
Shaun Cassidy. I had a portable blue record player with a picture of him on the inside cover. My favorite song to play on it was “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers.”
Harrison Ford was my first celebrity crush. I think I was about 7 or 8. I had a celebrity magazine that was plastered with pics of him (I think he had just made another Indiana Jones movie or something) and kept kissing his pictures, LOL.
I’m with @aprilsimnel on Michael Palin and Eric Idle. I’ve been lucky to get the chance to see Eric Idle at Beatlefest, and a concert with Neil Innes (of the Rutles) and as the narrator of “He’s Not the Messiah, He’s a very naughty Boy” musical! I swooned every time.
But my first love was Davy Jones of The Monkees.
That was then, this is now
I’m pretty sure Charlize Theron isn’t black, is she? Am I thinking of a different person?
Paul McCartney and I’d still be married to him (and very rich) if only he had agreed.
Leonardo Di Caprio. Loved him, had stickers and everything. He still looks good, I wouldn’t kick him out of the bed for eating biscuits anyway!
That would be Veronica Lake when I saw her in ‘I Married a Witch’.
When I was 5, I was convinced that I’d grow up and marry Steve Irwin.
Oh dear Steve, rest in peace.
@Jude, how could I have forgotten Mike Rowe? I have a friend whose friend sent her a college about him. We both love to sit and gaze at him for
hours!!! And Harrison Ford! That was another one for me to dream about. There probably were and are others that I can’t remember
Well, after I got over Davy Jones, the next one was Brad Pitt. After him was Orlando Bloom.
Oh, I also had an obsession with Andy Gibb.
@jonsblond Ah, well I suppose that does make her an African-American.
Mine was Darth Vader.
Yeah, I’m weird.
I am kind of surprised no one did one of these:
John Lennon Then
and Now
David Essex… oh god he was a beautiful man.
I told my husband if things don’t work out with us, I will have to marry Dave Grohl. He just has such a sense of humour and he is a great musician!
Wonder Woman / Lynda Carter. Started off as hero-worship. Pre-puberty had the WW Underoos. No family member could interrupt my WW time. Had to cart the swivel dining room chair to the living room, position it squarely in front of the tv, and spin whenever Diana spun and transformed into Wonder Woman.
Hero worship morphed into pre-teen crush. WW could wrap her lasso of truth around me any day! ;)
Wow….Davy Jones from The Monkees.
Joan Jett.
My 4th grade fantasy was that she and the Blackhearts would come and play at my school and then she would come hang out and camp with me in our backyard.
James Garner. LOL !!! “He” sent me a 5×7 glossy photo and I was in Heaven!
@Aster
I crushed on him when I was 27 and watching Maverick reruns.

I can’t believe that I forgot this! My husband and I have
been on five cruises for Apple Computer people. On the first one, in 2000, one of the participants (the Apple
cruise as opposed to the PC
cruise) was John DeLancie, Q on Star Trek the Next Generation. I really, really, love John DeLancie! He went on the cruise also. My husband and I both met him. It’s funny- I laugh when people get all excited about Justin Bieber and people like that. I would NEVER be like that! (right. ;0) ). But then I met John DeLancie!!!
He was one gorgeous specimen on Maverick, that’s for sure.
I had a crush on John Smith from Pocahantos, Mulder from the X files… and still have one now…though I’m not willing to tell that one. ; )
Oh, come on @queenie, you gotta share! ;)
@Seelix Do I have to? I’m not very proud of it.
Aww, ok. Here
Yeah I know. I need to grow up.
@queenie I don’t even know who he is! :P
I don’t know who that is either, but I wouldn’t kick him out of bed!
@KatetheGreat I know. That’s one of the things I like about him, he appears on TV but still can get away abroad ; ) ...
You may know this guy though…
@KatetheGreat Ah, well. I don’t really go for the mega famous anyways…hmm. Would you kill me if I say Taylor Lautner’s cute? But… he’s not exactly what I would call a crush…
Natalie Portman. After I saw Attack Of the Clones, I was smitten, then I saw roles of her where she acted realized she had talent, and BAM! favorite actress.
@queenie Taylor Lautner looks like my older brother. I can’t find him cute! For some reason, I find older actors cute. I do love a man that looks classy and out of the norm though.
@ddude1116 Did you see her in The Professional? Great movie. It was one of her firsts. I must say I have a lady crush on her since this (NSFW) :D
Speaking of Taylors, Taylor Kitsch can stay at my house for as long as he wants.
@Blueroses MMMMMMM, I’d kidnap him from your house. :P

@jonsblond no.. I really want to see it, the entire premise sounds fantastic…
@Kardamom Oh, I almost forgot Donny Osmond. And Jack Wild. I found out that he died – what a shame.

Had I been a teen instead of a toddler in the early 70s, I think it would’ve been this fellow. What a perfectly gorgeous creature. And he speaks French! Oh, and one of the greatest rock guitarists there’s ever been. That too. ;D
@noelleptc I know – I just loved his face! Between him and Davy Jones, it’s no wonder that I am attracted to short, dark-haired men with brown eyes and bigger-than-life personalities.
@aprilsimnel
“I think it would’ve been this fellow.”
He played one of the greatest guitar solos ever.
Of course Leonardo DiCaprio from titanic. I just loved him.
