When searching for, say, “Dreamhost coupons” on Google, you can find all kinds of coupon codes that are supposed to give you all sorts of benefits.
I’m new to this. And so I’m wondering, are these coupon codes bogus, or do they actually constitute really sweet deals with no strings attached?

The coupon codes you refer to are just leftover coupons from previous promotions run by Dreamhost (in this case). They will either work or they wont, but there isn’t any “strings”.

Hello! I have a pretty good handle on this, since I run one of those sites—http://thedreamhostcoupon.com—basically, Dreamhost lets any of their existing customers create and offer coupons to their friends and clients. They’re completely legit. The way they work is that you can offer from $0 – $97 off depending on the type of plan and the length of time that you buy for. The max you can offer in many cases is around $50 off. In any case there is an upside for both parties, because the existing customer gets the remainder as a comission (so $97 – $50 = $47) and the new customer gets an awesome discount.
