[NSF weak stomachs] Which variety would you snack on?

Never mind the reason. Let’s just say you lost a bet.
Now you have to go to the store and pick out a can of cat food and eat it.
What kind will you choose?
And will you spoon it down as is, season it or mix it with something, make a sandwich?
What will you have as a chaser?
Don’t worry, this is a fiction question.
Thank you, my dears.

I would pick the chicken,I hear it tastes like chicken.
Straight.No chaser.
;)
Most of the “mixed fish” and “mixed grill” have fish scales.
Fancy Feast Sliced Beef stir-fry with a Grolsch.
Well if I’m allowed to make a sandwich, I’d probably do that. Denno what kind of flavour…something beefy. I’d use water as a chaser. In case something like juice, milk or beer mixed with the cat food doesn’t agree…can’t hurt with water. Then again maybe the bread wouldn’t agree…naaaaah I’d probably be fine..
Brand names, folks? When you feed your cat, what looks almost edible?
I’d have a fishy one, mix it with mayo, salt and pepper, and make a sandwich, and try to pretend it was tuna.
I did actually eat some of my dog’s dog food once. She has Nature Diet which is organic and good quality ingredients. I was chopping it up (the chicken flavour one) with a spoon and I instinctively, without thinking, licked the spoon. It actually tasted pretty decent. Bland, but definitely edible.
What’s to be squemish about. There is not a whole heck of a lot of difference between tuna in a cat food can and tuna in a human food can. Ok sure, the human variety is made from the choice cuts, but the cat food variety ain’t going to kill you.
If I lost said bet, I would get the highest end salmon variety available, and if salmon is not available I would go with tuna. (I’m thinking something along the lines of “fancy feast” or better here)
I would then drain it well, add an egg, some crumbled saltines, salt, pepper, and garlic. Fry in a bit of vegtable oil until golden brown, serve with a nice field green salad and a generous blob of tarter sauce on the side. Of course a very nice Chardonnay would also be in order.
I’d then propose a wager (before whoever I made the bet with sees what I made) that my cat food would be taster than whatever they had planned for dinner.
I’d get the kind that sort of looks like potted meat, not the kind that’s like gravy and small strips of “meat”. I’d mix it with some mayo and relish and have a sandwich. I used to buy some Friskies chicken and egg for my cats, I’d probably go with that.
@Jeruba I often get Felidae for my kitties, it’s pretty decent, and doesn’t cost too much. Some cat food is damn ridiculous in price. (no beef though, dang)
My two cats are complete dried food fans though. (which I’m not eating, I’ve tried it before, omg ew)
If I have to be the one to go to the store and pick out a can of cat food, I would purchase a can a Fancy Feast Cat Food and also a can of Bumble Bee Tuna and than I would switch the labels on the way home, throw the Bumble Bee Tuna aka Fancy Feast away and eat the Fancy Feast aka Bumble Bee Tuna straight no chaser.
Thank goodness this is a fiction question.
Actually, the catfood that I used to feed my cat didn’t seem that bad wet food, the dry is disgusting, but the one we give her now is gross. I agree with @jonsblond. I guess I’d pick a really high-quality one that serves no purpose in my opinion to feed to a cat, beef flavor because it always seems the most real-smelling. Maybe like, fancy feast or something…eat it straight up.
Wellness. I would eat that brand if I’m stuck in a house after an earthquake.
