Is it bad for a plant to get a lot of water?
Well, I have this plant that has grown to be very big. Sometimes we forget to water it, So we put the plants vines in our fish tank. I don’t know if the plant is getting to much water or if its not getting enough water.

We have to know what kind of plant it is to answer your question.
Is it living in your fish tank? Like getting roots?
Its just the vines that are in the fish tank.
I second what @KatetheGreat said. Plants have needs running the full spectrum. Therefore, we need to know what it is to know how it will react.
Some plants can rot and die from too much water.
Also, are you sure this particular plant is not toxic to fish?
I have been told that some of my plants died from drowning.
@MysticRain @KatetheGreat is quite right. Even knowing that it’s a vine in insufficient. What kind of vine? There are plants that grow just fine hydroponically (roots in water) and others that would die if treated this way. If your vine has had its roots in the fishbowl for some time and appears healthy, then it’s probably one of the type that handle hydroponics well. If it were not, it would soon show signs of stress, like leaves yellowing and falling off.
In general….
Non aquatic plants need soil that is made up of a solid matrix, air and water. Terrestrial plants need air and water in the soil. Too much or too little water in the soil mix is harmful. Too much or too little air in the soil mix is harmful.
Most plants can handle a lot of watering as long as the soil drains well.
