The 60’s and 70’s were magical and Dylan And Simon and Garfunkel and Beatles and Stones, then Hendrix and Morrison and Eagles et al.
Then the 80’s – and then the 90’s.
But the 2000’s? What were some memorable songs?

Lucy has hit it on the head. There is nothing out there worth mentioning. Lucy, you get a great answer from ol john.
It’s the noughties. Eighties, Nineties, Noughties.
The Indies.
There has been a lot of great music in the last ten years, but outside of mainstream pop and without radio play. Check out Alexi Murdoch, Ray LaMontagne, Newton Faulkner, Imogen Heep, Feist, the Shins, David Gray, KT Tunstall, Griffin House. I could name a lot more.
The aughts. Aughts, teens, twenties, etc.
In the aughts, we got The White Stripes, OK Go, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by the Flaming Lips, Green Day’s American Idiot album, Florence + the Machine, The Ting Tings, Joss Stone, and three albums from Nine Inch Nails.
And that’s just from the popular music.
