Do think it would be better if I stopped going abroad?

Asked by josie (30934points) April 24th, 2011

I just spent a week in Italy teaching the Carabinieri to appear as smart as the Polizia but still keep their ability to intimidate.

While I was gone, Standard and Poor’s dropped the US AAA rating from stable to negative. The dollar went to .58 of a Euro while I, literally, watched.

The last time I went abroad, the stock market tanked.

Is there a relationship here? Is this somehow my fault?
Should I just stay home the next time?

The Dow hit a new high, Libyan rebels have had more successes, a British tourist in Orlando caught a baby who had fallen from a fourth-story balcony (baby is alive and well), Palin and Trump are becoming less and less main-stream, GOP Senator Ensign of Nevada is resigning his seat due to sexual peccadillos, Yemeni PM resigned.

Depending on which day you returned, could you take credit? Perhaps.

The Red Sox are on a tear (on the West Coast, no less!). Keep doing whatever it is you’re doing.

Did you get a complimentary Prada Carabinieri uniform? How about an Alfa Romeo?

Interesting. I’ve been scouring online psychological disorder websites.
The best I can come up with is that you suffer from narcissistic personality disorder.

How did Italy compare to where you live? Should Italians be yearning to make a trip to your part of town?

@CBrennan15
Compared to where I live, the weather was nicer, there were more paintings and sculpture by people like Raphael and Michaelangelo, and more stuff that I read about in Western History.

If they want to come to where I live, they are more than welcome. Not much history or Renaissance art here, but at least the Euro is about double the dollar. Plus my Italian is passable. Who knows, maybe they would like it.

I think they would have more fun in New York or DC though.
