Why do some tolerate people who make fun of victims of tragedy? Japan Tsunami for eg.? And reward them by giving them airtime?
The “ladies” on “The View” had the comedian who got fired from his endorsement job (edit) after they talked about “how come people are rewarding bad behaviour?...” Are they not talking from both sides of their mouths?

So they called attention to what happens when people do inappropriate things. Those people get fired and have to find a way to get past it and find something else to do which isn’t so easy with a bad reputation. Gilbert Gottfried has always been controversial. Talking about his latest controversy and the consequences of his behavior with him is not rewarding him.

1) Redemption on the plus side
Giving someone an opportunity to admit an error and help others learn from the mistake

2) Commerce on the minus side
Celebrities are not about genuine or earnest feelings. He’s in the news, people will tune in, advertisers will buy the commercials.

Making fun of victims of tragedies is a coping mechnism most humans have to shield themselves emotionally from events they have trouble coping with. When Challenger blew up, it wasn’t a half hour from when I first heard the news to when I heard the first Christa McAuliffe joke about feeding the fish.

As to why Gottfried got fired, the company he worked for, AFLAC, is just trying to break into the Japanese market. They were going to boycott if he didn’t get canned. It was purely a business decision on the companies part.

And? That’s just a few less mouths to feed.

Sometimes black humor is a coping device and not necessarily a bad thing. It’s tacky when it’s done in public and without sensitivity to a potential audience.

All people have a different sense of humor than others. It’s kind of hard to judge something you don’t understand isn’t it? I personally think it’s a really horrible form of comedy but there’s nothing we can do about it. After all it’s there life.

I was pointing out that the contradiction of them a few minutes earlier that one of them expressed dismay that (in another news story) bad behaviour is being rewarded, and then have G.G on the show. It make the show look even more ridiculous than usual.

-The only people who need to cope are the friends and family of the victims, and they do the coping in private. The comedians, talk show hosts etc. are making money by catering to the disgusting, they’re not so distraught by grief. Excuses are a dime a dozen.

@Janibb has got it right on the money.

By the way when G.G got on did he sound like he was looking for redemption? No.
