What are you listening to this very moment (Part 4)

Asked by jonsblond (44316points) May 1st, 2011

An ongoing thread started by whatthefluther in 2009. I hope Gary doesn’t mind involuntarily passing the torch to me for this question.

Here are whatthefluther’s words from Part 3

Right now I am listening to a train pass by, thinking of good friends that have made an impact in my life. =)

I am on my deck watching the sun rise and listening to the hundreds of bird above me and out in the wetland. The call of the Red Wing Black Birds trumps all the other birds. And the new puppy sleeping at my feet who likes to talk in her sleep. :)

Parrot feathers. She’s on my shoulder preening. The long feathers make a great sound as she starts at the base where the feather makes a low pitch as she makes rapid little nibbles on her way out to the end where the note is an octave or so higher. It’s a sound like a mellow wood drum, it’s not very loud but she’s just a few inches from my ear. She throws in a coo or a chirp occasionally.

This is so pretty. When I get married, I’ll have to get these choirs to sing for me, and John Rutter to write a hymn for the wedding, somehow. And book the Abbey, of course.

Er, can anyone introduce me to Harry?

Radio show about cars, waiting for the news. I’ve learned that though many men will moan about old gas, it’s fine to have old gas as long as you drive to the gas station quite soon.

Kardamom's avatar

A neighbor across the street is hammering something. I just heard my stomach growl because I haven’t had breakfast yet. I can hear cars way off in the distance.

I’m surprised I don’t hear the mocking bird that chirped all night long: wheet wheet wheet, churdle churdle churdle, dit dit dit dit, whorl whorl whorl, tik tik tik, weeka weeka weeka, cheet cheet cheet, dweedly dweedly dweedly.
