Why do I have this feeling for a couple days after the house is cleaned?

I have , knock on wood, these two girls who clean the house infrequently. After they leave and for the next day I have the most happy, contented feeling. What causes this? Is it just because, “well, that’s done” or is there a deeper reason?

There’s something to be said for that spotless clean, everything in its place feeling…maybe that’s what you’re experiencing…
It gives us the illusion that we have some control over our lives.
Oh, I LOVE having my house cleaned. Love, love, love it. For me, it’s just a moment where everything seems “better” than it was before it was cleaned. I don’t have quitte the same feeling when I do the work myself, and I think that’s because I dread the first crumb that hits the floor, the first glass left in the sink afterwards, etc.
Mowing the lawn has always been the most satisfying work for me—it looks great when you’re finished, so you get immediate gratification, and it stays neat for a few days (unlike that silly house).
@Jude: True. Everyone is agreeing (rapturously) about the feelings of pleasure, satisfaction, contentment and gratification, but you have neglected to tell us why
@gailcalled I agree completely that it allows us to feel “in control.”
Is that why cleaning makes one feel better when one is depressed, because it gives one a feeling of something under control?
For me, when I feel out of control, I find that cleaning helps. You feel in control and it eases the anxiety.
I believe in Feng Shui! Your place has got to look good for you to be at peace!
I get the same feeling. For me, it is a heavy burden off of my shoulders. Clutter makes me feel claustrophobic. My world feels more serene and less complicated. Plus, it is nicer to look at and usually smells good.
