Rock/Alternative rock.
Because it’s brings me to life again, after dying from revision ;)
Rock and metal! I love it because…well it’s relatable and just feels so good singing and drumming along.
Blues! Mississippi Delta blues!! Why?? It taps into the heart and soul of why you are alive!
In the moment I am gearing up for my towns big Blues festival on the river June. 4. Sooo, have been listening to a lot of Sax by obscure artists. Have discovered some really good artists.
All in all I am a 60’s- 90’s rock/alternative fan, with a sprinkling of Blue Grass, country rock, but no COUNTRY! Gah! lol
One of my more recent ‘addictions’ the last year or so is the Greenday 21 guns venue.
I am a closet drummer and LOVE the drums in ‘Do you know your enemy’. Rock on!
I have no favourite, never have done. If I like the sound then that’s good enough for me, regardless of the artist. Wow, lets hope Celine Dion never releases a cool rocking song then….....I think i’m safe though.
At the moment? Classical. I used to think it was all elevator music, and then I had to deal with classical music data for the last four months at my job. Once I knew a little more about it, the music got to be far more interesting. And, young Franz Liszt was hot!
Metal and alternative, as well as chill out/lounge. The other day I was blasting Tomorrow by Silverchair.
At the moment, it’s always been anything that rocks… particularly heavy metal. Mainly from the eighties, early nineties.. Although I am leaning towards folk rock, the likes of Mumford & sons, very much so…
“They bring their music to us with the passion and pride of an old-fashioned, much-cherished, family business. They create a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings Of Leon, and their incredible energy draws us in quickly to their circle of songs, to the warmth of their stories, and to their magical community of misty-eyed men“. what more can one say. :-/
I’ve totally been listening to Viking and Pagan metal for the past months. I wonder if Pirate metal exists lol…
Ensiferum, Les Batards du Nord, (the northern bastards) Eluveite…
Not quite metal, but pirate music!
Bluegrass. I have tickets to see Del McCoury at the Grand ‘Ol Opry in 1 week.
@Symbeline I have always loved viking and pagan metal. And Eluveitie is one of my favorite bands.
They most certainly rock, indeed.
@Symbeline Amon Amarth was here a few days ago. I didn’t go because I worked on a paper instead.
Jazz and Totalitarian Death Metal
(For the record, I am not a racist/white supremacist, but I do support creative rights. Plus they are the best recent original metal band I’ve heard so far that isn’t a rip off of another old band.)
Classical. It can be extremely passionate or it can be very soothing, depending upon the song and the arrangements.
Yo-you Ma’s Appalachia Waltz is one of my favorite pieces.
I also love Adoramus by Libera
And East of Eden by Lee Holdrige
My favorite has been rock since 1957.
I don’t know enough about the current rock sub-genres to pick a favorite, but I think my taste is probably diverse to the point where I couldn’t specify which of them formed a plurality, even if I did know.
Classical music, and Alternative Rock
Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of psychedelic rock, like the Moody Blues and The Doors, neo-classical-rock that might cover it like Billy Joel, and folk rock, like Bob Dylan and Buffalo Springfield. I’ve also had moments of alternative and progressive rock, like Muse, Panic! At the Disco, and the Gorillaz and theater tunes, like Phantom Of the Opera, Les Miserables, and HAIR. Just whatever I dig at the time..
Lately it’s been prog rock and alternative rock. I’ve also been on an alternative hip-hop kick for some reason, something I never thought I’d find myself doing…also, I’m happy to say that I have found my way back to southern rock and folk rock Neil Young FTW
Music that requires talent
@KatetheGreat Never heard of Viking Metal, may have to check some of it out. Do you recommand any songs that stand out to you?
I’d recommend Bathory’s “Hammerheart” and “Blood Fire Death” since they were one of the foundations of Viking Metal.
Vocal Jazz, like Michael Buble, Norah Jones, and Stacey Kent.
@Symbeline Fuck yes! “Under the sign of the black mark” is my favorite black metal album.
Yeah, it’s named after her lol. (looked it up on Wiki) I always kinda figured though.
@Brian1946 Yes. They even have a song dedicated to her.
I’m sure there’s one out there somewhere, if not more than one. I’d love to see some too. (I did read a cool fictional biography of her though, one damn twisted book.)
Were you trying to post a link? It’s not working.
Yeah, I was trying to post a link. Here’s the literal URL: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0496634/
If you go to IMDb and search for The Countess as a title, perhaps you can see it that way.
Oh cool, that looks pretty sweet. It seems to happen in the actual time period, too. Thanks for the head’s up.
And that reminds me, I did see a movie that was based on her. It’s called Eternal. It’s French originally, (Éternelle) but I didn’t find it all that entertaining, since it happens in the present, telling us she’s a vampire and not some freaky ass freak. Lots of blood and cool lesbian scenes though.
