Which is the best anti-adware spyware malware program? Going nuts.

Asked by Aster (20028points) May 9th, 2011

So you have to buy an anti-spyware program? My pc is so slow I’m thinking of jumping off the roof.

When you have something really nasty on your computer, I use Spybot Search and Destroy, it is freeware but works really well. The only drawback is scans take a really long time. For something quicker and with some other features like system optimization, I would use Advance System Care. You can use the free version or pay 20 bucks for the advanced.

I would also try getting rid of your antivirus software and downloading Microsoft Security Essentials (if you haven’t already), it is a free antivirus and antispyware and my pc is running so much faster since I got rid of McAffee and replaced it with this.

I swear by CCleaner for keeping my system clean, lean, mean and fast!

Advanced System Care is a newer program for me but seems to run in the background nicely without slowing down the other things you may be doing!

Second endorsement for CCleaner (thanks @Cruiser). Also, SuperAntiSpyware is fantastic at what it does, if its designers aren’t great at naming products.

the Advance System Care seems to have REALLY sped things up. I declined to pay anything; I wanted to see how the freebie would work first and it said it cleaned out 100 things only. But I really like it . I will try @Cruiser‘s suggestion the next time it’s sluggish. Isn’t fluther great? ((-;

I liked the ACS yesterday and installed it. Then I was having some minor problems and also installed CCleaner. Maybe you can’t install two of them? Because now my “Yahoo Mail” thingie at the top of the screen is faded out. I have to google , “yahoo email” to get mail. So I went to Programs and deleted CCleaner but the Yahoo Mail thing is still almost gone.
I feel stalked. I’m typing away and suddenly my PRINTER prints out a two page STOPzilla advertisement all on it’s own. And I google that and it’s a virus or something!! You cannot get STOPzilla off your pc even if you call their company. You have to take your pc in for repair!
