Where is your paradise?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37732points) May 11th, 2011

Do you live in paradise? Have you been there? Have you vacationed there? Have you only seen pictures?

Is it a real place or imaginary?

Is it a state of mind?

Can you share pictures, videos, or songs of it?

Or did they pave your paradise and put up a parking lot?

I haven’t been everywhere I want to go yet. So, to pick from where I have been, Kauai would be it. My choice a couple of years ago would have been Kailua on Oahu, but that got way too populated for me to call paradise.

You know those cliche’s about home being where the heart is, and wherever you leave your hat; that’s me. Paradise, for me, is a part of the female anatomy.

Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida… I’m sorry, I know it’s tacky. it’s a big state of mind thing, I’ve been 6 times and just can’t get over it! It’s a giant nostalgia trip. I’m not even that crazy a disney fan, I just like the hospitality and vibe in that place. Embarrassing! But that’s the power of nostalgia I guess.

Yosemite. I’ve only been there once, when I was about 11 years old. I can’t wait to go back again. Last time I went we camped in a tent, and I would like to do that again, but I would also like to stay at the Ahwanee Hotel too. We went in the summer, which was marvelous, but I’d like to experience Yosemite in each of the 4 seasons.

Right now I’d have to say the wilderness school I work at. Nearly 1000 acres of wild forest and wetlands, abundant wild foods, clean water, and no threat of “development”.

There’s a little bar in Elsa Illinois that serves the crazy best fried catfish nuggets and hot sauce every fall. I get to visit paradise in the fall.

Paradise is nothing but an imaginary place in a persons mind which he feels can be the bst place on earth for him, where fairies would dance, he will be guarded by angels etc..

OK, @hawaii_jake , considering who you are and where you live, what’s your paradise?

To answer the Q, I’m just a sappy old fart, anywhere I can smell the water and see @KatawaGrey regularly…

Porcupine Mountains in the upper peninsula of Michigan is my paradise. I fell in love with it the first time I visited. It is now my dream to live somewhere close to there. I don’t need much. Just a little two bedroom cabin, since I’ll be hiking, kayaking and snowshoeing all the time. :D

@jonsblond Porcupine is stunning up there. I loved going there and would more often if it wasn’t so far!!

The closest I have been to (my idea of) paradise, physically, was Scotland. Loch Ness to be precise. I have never felt so drawn to a place in my life.

Paradise for my state of mind is lying in bed with my man, in the middle of the night, knowing that we don’t have to get up for anyone or anything the next day. It rarely happens but when it does I couldn’t be happier.
