What job or career would you hope your child/children never get into or involved with?
What profession or career would you hope your child/children would avoid? Many people say what they hope their child/children would aspire to, a doctor, a pilot, law enforcement, teacher, etc. Then there are some that are not seen as great, stripper, porn star, janitor, the guy that follows the elephants at the circus. There are some jobs that don’t have as much of an ”ick factor” but are highly dangerous like coal miner, pyrotechnical, etc. So, what career of job you’d hope your child/children would not do or avoid?

Cigarette production or sales.
Anything related to the military if they were to be exposed to a clear & present danger on a frequent basis. I mean, that’s a purely selfish parental instinct right there. However, i’d never actively discourage them from attaining any of their goals in life.
Nuclear power plant worker
@ucme Ditto military
Religious work (do good work because it’s the right thing to do, not because god tells you it’s the right thing to do)
Jobs that make money for money’s sake like a stockbroker
A job that takes advantage of poor people eg charges a premium because they are poor. Like a loan shark.
Human trafficking, drug dealing (legal drugs included), financial industry, military.
I would be fine with him/her becoming a first rate hitman. That would make mummy proud.
@ratboy : <sigh> My child is a Fluther moderator. I fear for her safety every day…..
I side with Chris Rock who rightly explains it’s the job of fathers to keep their daughters “off the pole”.
Anything that involves fame.

Military
Police
Politics
The obvious ones like stripper/hooker/drug dealer
That said, I’d support whatever my kids wanted to be. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean I won’t be there for them.
Stripping, drug dealing, and anything else hollyweird related.

Nothing that requires interacting with the random public while working for a business that is cash based. I don’t want them to have to deal with having guns in their faces when someone wants to rob the business.

Anything illegal, because life is too short to spend years of it caged up like an animal.
@JilltheTooth I am not suppose to tell you but @ragingloli kid has the contract on your’s. If you hear something like a power drill coming from the bedroom it is just the sonic muffling the shots from an MR777 SIG turning the room into hamburger. D’oh!! Now I have to break out my Kevlar again so I don’t get ventilated…...
Moving my kid to a secret location as we speak.
My mother was a high school teacher, and she always told me that if I went into teaching, she’d break my fingers so I couldn’t write on the board.
Gosh, and I thought teaching was a desirable profession!
@Dr_Dredd I feel bad about how teachers are so under paid and not well respected.
Prostitution, drug dealing, or any other illegal “occupation.”
I don’t have any children and I’m still working on my goals. I just would want my future offspring to do better than me, whatever I end up doing. Isn’t that any parents wish?
The loose tally seems to be:
1. Nothing to do with sex (I guess it is OK to boink like bunnies so long as you don’t make money at it) 8 votes
2. Drugs and military equaled out at 4 a piece.
3. Religion, money streams/banking, law enforcement/prisons, politics, or anything that would create fame; 2 votes over all.
4. Then comes about everything else.
Quite interesting……….
