A house from a movie that you'd love/hate to spend the night in?

Asked by ucme (50047points) May 12th, 2011

Basically any building depicted in a movie, or tv show for that matter. Whether it’s a genuine real life structure or simply a fabricated one built on set. You & maybe your family have the option of staying the night there, free of charge. Would you? Could you? Do you even care? Why am I asking so many questions within a question? Why am I whispering now?

Love:

(1) Pee Wee’s house from “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.”

(2) The “Home Alone” house. Fully booby-trapped. Defending it from my enemies.
I hear it’s for sale…;-)

“Tara” in Gone With the Wind (Scarlet’s bedroom would be fine.) That featherbed of hers was almost 2 feet thick on her four poster bed. (;

@Aster

Of course, all I can think of is the 500 geese that went into that mattress. lol

The Hotel in The Shining.
It it the Mount Washington Hotel
And I have actually spent nights there. The first winter they stayed open for business was 2001 and it was very freaky. Wind storm that night blew off part of the roof and I awoke able to see the stars where there once was a ceiling.

Agree with the house from Up. There was a lot of love in that house.

I’d hate to live in the house from The Money Pit, though.

144th Street and Convent Avenue, Harlem, AKA The Royal Tenenbaums’ house.

I would hate to be in Tara, because most likely, they’d expect me to clean it. :/

I’d love to spend a night in the village of Sleepy Hollow. Wear these cool Victorian like dresses, blindfold my eyes and kiss random people during a party where they play all this cool folk music and get drunk.
Plus get chased around by the headless horseman and be all badass on top of carriages and windmills…or not. Just the cool village and party will be fine.

@Only138 Haha yeah that house kicks some major ass. You and I should go hang around the house used by the Devil’s Rejects, go buy chicken, then torture a buncha people and make jokes about how Tiny fucked a stump. :D

Only138's avatar

@Symbeline Hell yeah! That would be cool. We can make our own version of “fish boy”. LOL

I would love to spend a fews days at Xanadu from Citizen Kane. I wouldn’t mind staying in the Swiss family Robinson’s tree house either.

Berserker's avatar

@Only138 But we still have to call him Bill, under the sole pretext of going, remember Bill? Bill…what a fucked up name. XD

The Weasley house in Harry Potter would be quirky and fun.
The house that the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs would be really really awful

SuperMouse's avatar

Cher’s parents apartment in Moonstruck and just for one night Hawkeye’s tent in M*A*S*H. Hogwarts castle would also be darn cool.

Kardamom's avatar

@Symbeline I’m surprised that you didn’t pick the houses from The Munsters and The Addams Family. : )

Berserker's avatar

Well I’d pick the Adam’s house in order to raid Morticia’s wardrobe. :D

Kardamom's avatar

@ Symbeline, I prefer the original Morticia, Carolyn Jones. She was gorgeous! But I love Christina Ricci as Wednesday. I just love how Morticia walks in that tight black dress :

Berserker's avatar

I’ve never seen any of the original episodes…would love to though. I’m just familiar with the movie. (and cartoon lol)

Kardamom's avatar

@Symbeline Oh my goodness, you must check out the TV series! It’s really funny. Here’s a random episode to check out.

There was also a cartoon version which still used John Astin, Carolyn Jones and Jackie Coogan’s voices. But the live action TV show was much better. Here’s a link to the full list of episodes, if you want to watch them in order.

Morticia and Gomez are one of my all time favorite TV couples!
