If, for your next birthday, someone offered to make you the ultimate dessert of your choice, what great concoction would you request?

Be deliciously descriptive and specific!

This is a super tough question for me. I think dessert is the meal most like art. It’s not just taste or amount you have to worry about, it’s texture as well. I find that whatever texture I desire is what decides my dessert choice.

If I want something a little heavier, I’d go with the chocolate fudge brownie with a scoop of ice cream and warm fudge drizzled on the top.

If I want creamy, I go with cheesecake, but it has to be perfect blend of fluffy and dense. Cheesecake cannot be too much of either.

Sometimes, I am in the mood for plain vanilla cake with elaborate frosting, specifically buttercream.

I am almost always in the mood for pie but a nice fruit tart makes my mouth water just as much.

One cannot beat a light, chocolate mousse if dinner has been heavy but one is still desirous of a little sweet.

Baklava is great for a light dessert as well and it’s unusual enough for an American because there is no chocolate or fruit in it, but it is exquisite.

I’d have to say that the best dessert I have ever had was this lovely cake that my aunt made for her daughter’s high school graduation. The cake itself was delicious enough, but the frosting was peach buttercream. She put peach slices on the cake and some kind of candied flowers and it was perfection.

I waaaaaaaaay over analyzed this question.

Getting hungry.

Tiers of angel food cake layered with chopped strawberry that’s been folded into stiff whipping creme. I want the outside of the layers frosted with stiff whipped cream that’s had strawberry juice blended in. Gold decorative sugar dust would be blown over the whole and dark chocolate shavings added to the tops of the tiers along with fresh ripe strawberries.

Eh just give me a bag of Skittles, I’ll be fine.

@Neizvestnaya That sounds like the dessert that Meg Ryan must have been eating during that famous scene from When Harry Met Sally!

A man drizzled in Chocolate with whipped cream and a cherry on his hard one please! I want to eat and enjoy if its my birthday.

Julia Child’s Queen of Sheba cake: intensely chocolate torte made with finely processed almonds and rum and frosted with thick chocolate rum butter cream. So rich that just a sliver is enough, but you’d like more. If I make it, I can have more than a sliver. We don’t have it often.

Too Jays Mounds cake.

@Sunny2: I’ve now got my recipe for a Groom’s Cake, yay!

“Sweet Slime”
Flour, water and sugar.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@KatetheGreat No it’s not! You need to put the tiramisu on a man, then drizzle Kahlua all over him. THEN it’s better than sex (plain sex, anyway)

I stand with my chocolate mousse. With raspberry coulis, a mixture of fresh berries, and a sprig of mint on the side. On top of a sexy person (all sexes are allowed to apply!).

My sister’s Chocolate Mousse Cake. Two layers of homemade chocolate cake separated by a layer of chocolate mousse and the whole thing frosted with a layer of thick chocolate frosting. Serve up a slice of it with a cup of coffee, and I’m content for a year.

KateTheGreat's avatar

@MyNewtBoobs You’re a complete genius. I love you.

Sunny2's avatar

@Neizvestnaya Are you offering to share?

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@KatetheGreat Yes, yes I am. The key is, always ask yourself “Could I make this food better by putting it together with sex”? And if it’s sex, always ask yourself “Could I make this sex better by combining it with food”? And if the sex is outdoor sex, then the answer is no, no you cannot. Ants, dirt, stray leaves… Very messy.

My mom makes this amazing Kalhua cake using chocolate cake mix, and chocolate chips, and some other stuff… one year for my own birthday I made it using lemon cake with white chocolate chips and grand mariner. It was amazing, and got me shnockered to boot.

The cheeseboard, and a variety of savory crackers.

Kardamom's avatar

@downtide You are talking my language!

What is the difference (in the U.K.) between crackers and biscuits?

You are my go-to Flutherite for all things British food-related

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Kardamom Biscuits (in the UK) are cookies.

JLeslie's avatar

Biscuit in UK is cookie or cracker. You have to specify savory or sweet.

JLeslie's avatar

It’s the same in Spanish, one word, galleta, and you specify salty or sweet.

downtide's avatar

Biscuits are usually sweet (but not always). Crackers are savoury

Sunny2's avatar

@hawaii_jake I haven’t thought of cannoli in ages! Yum. Thanks for the memory.

Sunny2's avatar

@Neizvestnaya I meant would you share the recipe. Please?

Neizvestnaya's avatar

@Sunny2: Once I read your response then I googled Julia Child Queen of Sheba Cake and went from there to the ones that matched the ingredients you listed.
