Upon waking up in the morning, what is your first beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, soda, or energy drink?

Asked by john65pennington (29273points) May 16th, 2011

Coffee has always been the beverage of choice, first thing in the morning. But, is this about to change? Question: what is your beverage choice, first thing in the morning? Is it coffee, tea, soda, energy drink or something else?

Decaf coffee.

Coffee. I can’t imagine having anything else first thing in the morning. Tea or juice, maybe, but not pop or energy drinks.

Right now, it’s water, but usually I have Diet Coke first thing in the morning.

I could never understand why my grandchildren, when they lived with my wife and I, would drink a can or two of Mountain Dew each morning. No coffee, just a cold can of Mountain Dew.

Was it the caffeine in Mountain Dew or the taste?

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to tell you all about my Teasmade. Makes a cuppa for me and I don’t even have to get out of bed. I set it up every night and awaken to find a hot cup of tea waiting for me. What could be better for a tea jenny like me?

john65pennington's avatar

Stinley, how does your cup of tea compare to a cup of coffee? Is the amount of caffeine the same?

john65pennington's avatar

Thats a nice outfit. Is this the same for coffee as tea? Can coffee be made in the same device?

Stinley's avatar

Less caffeine in tea but I drink more tea than coffee

john65pennington's avatar

Okay. I never really got into drinking tea.

Thanks for info. jp

I think you could make instant coffee, sure. Or those coffee bags would work as well.

The milk is ok in the cup overnight, tastes fine

john65pennington's avatar

You are saying the machine also stores milk overnight for you morning cup of tea? I am amazed the milk stays fresh, without refrigeration.

Stinley's avatar

yep, seems to be fine. Once it was funny with floaters but then so was the milk in the fridge

Coffee!

Definitely water. Anything else (aside from tea) wouldn’t be as good, or even very bad, for the body.

erichw1504's avatar

Mountain Dew or coffee.

Orange Juice or Coca Cola

erichw1504's avatar

Water, almost a whole glass. After moving around for a bit then I’ll want my cup of freshly ground/brewed espresso.

Fresh grapefruit juice then lots of coffee.

Folger’s French Vanilla Cappucino. Very bad for the body, loaded with sugar, delicious.

Did you know that if you are taking Lipitor, that you cannot drink grapefruit juice?

Seelix's avatar

@john65pennington – Yup, my dad had to give it up when he started Lipitor. I don’t know exactly why, though – I just remember his being sad about it.

pshizzle's avatar

Decaf tea.

Berserker's avatar

I’m usually thirsty as hell when I wake up, so I have water. But soon to follow is the obligatory coffee. Existence in its entirety will have a very bad day if I don’t have my coffee.

Fenugreek tea. It has several purported benefits. I drink it for increased milk supply.

Grapefruit enhances the effect of Lipitor to perhaps unhealthy levels. I think it’s ok to eat a grapefruit every once in a while.
