Baby name suggestions?
I am too early in my pregnancy that I haven’t found out the gender of my baby. But I really want to start thinking about his/her name. My last name is Ozawa (“oh-zah-wah”) and that’s the last name the baby’s going to have. Any suggestions on names that go well with my last name? (both boys and girls name, please =) )

Soraya , Sarah , Rebecca for girls .
Ebony/Vincent….but hey, there’s a mountain of names would suit.
Haha Bazack.
You can use my future baby names: Gloria and Theodore.
Welcome to Fluther.
I don’t have any particular suggestions, but you might like this site to chart relative popularity of different names over time.

Hmmm….Ozawa is Japanese right? Do you want a Japanese name? My SIL wanted her children to have an Italian name because their last name was Italian, even though she was not Italian.

I’m a fan of using a “family” name as a middle name, while giving the child their own first name. For example, two of my sisters have middle names of our grandmothers. My middle name is my mom’s first name. Just for laughs, and to understand how wrong things can go with names, this is interesting.
And best wishes to you on your impending arrival! May your baby be healthy and full of joy.
Congratulations!
I do like Ichiro. Or Akira (or even just Kira).

If I’m correct in guessing your last name is of Japanese derivative..I’ll share some names that work in both languages (English and Japanese) from my bilingual classmates back in the day:
Girls:
Aya
Ana
Mari
Boys:
Philip (comes out like “Flip” in Japanese – and Flip Ozawa sounds like a surfer dude!)
Sam
Personal favorites..my dear friend just had a baby girl and named her Hazel.
I just love that name… Hazel Marie.
Hazel Mari Ozawa sounds kinda good.. and her initials would be HMO. ;)
@tedibear – lucky girl! A beautiful name. :)
I love that old classic names are coming back. Our middle daughter is a Lucy.
A lot of slightly different, but traditional, slightly formal names would work really well with your last name. Use a family name for a middle name, and try to avoid cutesy spellings. Britni, Britnee, Brytny and Brittenay are still Brittany, and you’re dooming your child of either spelling their name all the time, suffering with a misspelled name, or going by “Muffy” or some other nickname.

Oliver
Nicholas
Oscar (which would probably end up as Ozzie Ozawa)

Rhiannon for a girl, Zachary for a boy.
Doesn’t Rhiannon literally mean “witch”?
Wow, thank you all. Oh and yes, my last name is Japanese.
Kenzo or Hitomi if you are strong in the Japanese culture.
Kelly or Franklin if not.
I had a friend named Kyoko when I was little. I always liked that name. You must let us know what you finally decide.
@filmfann I like Kenzo too.
Congratulations. I have no idea though. I think have a short list of possibles and then see what you little person looks like. I had names picked out and looked at my son and went .. no way .. none of them fit him. Be prepared to throw out your choice when you see that little face and get a sense of their personality.

Just the first things to come to my mind?
just call it jr. because it might be a boy or a girl
I could go on forever… (I love names)
Girls:
Saydah.
Evony.
Ephani. (Like Stephani, without the “St”)
Elleer.
Dakota. (You could call her Cody, if you like.)
Avilon.
Synadaugh. (Pronounced Sin-Odd-Uh.)
(I would go on, but I can’t find my list, so I’m saying from memory)
Boys:
David. (Simple. Not one of my interesting ones.)
Zane.
Antony. (Pronounced like “Ant-uh-knee)
I really like Conner, but my cousin stole it before I had a kid. :( (I was gonna spell it like “Cawner”)
Kawlin.
I know a guy named Nicolai (Nick-uh-lie) Though that was unique…
Names that would be good for either gender:
Boston. (I like city names…)
Vision.
River.
Dakota. (Cody, wink wink)
Also, I’ve been toying the the idea of naming one “Spawn-of-AshLeigh” (Joking)
My cousin called her baby Amaya which is Japanese and very pretty for a girl
My name appears in two people’s lists!
@Stinley is it surprising? Do you have an uncommon name? Mine does not appear once, and my name was very very popular back in the day, not as much now.
I just remembered some really good girl names.
These people from my church have three little girls.
Melayna.
Allies. (Uh-Lee-ss)
And Adalyn. (Which reminds me of Aladan.)
They all sound like princess names.(:
Rhiannon might mean witch but I’m not too sure, just have always had a fascination with the name.
Wow, turns out the U.S. Social Security Administration has created an app for that.
Again, thank you all. 9 weeks until I find out if it’s a boy or a girl. Can’t wait!!
@AshLeigh The father of the baby is Cody lol haha
@robmandu Oh sweet, thanks!
Haha. What a coincidence. ;)
