How do you introduce yourself to new people?

Do you crack a joke at the risk of being blanked, just introduce yourself with a friendly hello, go for the flirt (if you’re attracted to them) or act shy and wait for them to make the first move (if ever)? I’m not asking for advice, that’d be in general, I was just wondering how you tend to “operate”. I usually go for the general hello, I have a friend who will go for the flirt with anyone, regardless of gender (he’s male). So what do you do?
