With how many selections on this list of "truly bad comedians" do you agree?

Asked by Brian1946 (32600points) May 21st, 2011

Here’s the list.

With which ones do you agree or disagree?

Are there any comedians that you’d like to add to the list?

Woah, woah, woah.

#12. Stephen Colbert
#35. Jon Stewart

I object to these two.

I object to Kathy Griffin and Chelsea Handler.
I would add Gilbert Gottfried to that list.

Bill Engvall is my favorite comedian. He’s funny without being mean.

Whoopee is pretty funny and I usually (not always) agree with her politics.

Louie Andersen is hilarious.

Bill Maher and Kathie Griffin and Chelsea Handler have at times been over the top funny (in a good way) and at other times, over the top mean. I don’t like it when humor turns to mean-ness.

I like Joy Behar, I think I am her target audience. She’s not spit milk out of your nose funny, but she makes me chuckle quite consistently.

John Stewart is pretty funny, but not as much as he used to be.

The others on the list either deserve to be there because they are horrible, some are there because they’re just blah or boring and the rest, I’ve never heard of.

I don’t see Larry David on that list, so I don’t have any problems. And I agree with most of the list.
I would add Roseanne Barr and Rosie O’Donnell instead of Colbert/Stewart.

Can’t stand Carrot Top, Joy Behar, used to like Janeane Garofolo until she went radical left, Pauly Shore, Ant, David Schwimmer meh, Ashton Kutcher is a comedian? (barf), George Lopez.

Looks like I agree with 8 of the chosen.

I completely disagree with Whitney Cummings being on the list.

I object to Kathy Griffin being listed as an actress (she was in 10 seconds of Pulp Fiction).
Stephen Colbert? Jon Stewart? Janeane Garofalo? Someone just hates the left. I will give you Bill Maher.
Jack Black can be funny when he is controlled (he was great in King Kong).
Kevin James is funny, as is Whoopie and Russell Brand.

Who would I add?
Tom Arnold
Danny McBride
Ann Coultier
Martin Short
Will Ferrell

I object to Colbert and Stewart. I don’t even know most of the rest.

Why the hell isn’t Gilbert Godfried on there?
Or Lisa Lampanelli?

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

.. I disagree with the majority. I think most of these people are funny.

jonsblond's avatar

@KatetheGreat Lisa can sell out an audience. I’ve seen her live. Freakin’ hilarious. but I know not everyone likes her.

@ANef_is_Enuf I agree. I do like most on the list.

KateTheGreat's avatar

@jonsblond Yeah, she does have a lot of fans. I’m not so fond of her comedy.

There are a few on the list that belong there. Kathy Griffin doesn’t appeal to me, I don’t find her funny at all. Dane Cook should be #2 on the list in my opinion.

zenvelo's avatar

What an odd list, so many of them are not “comedians”. Sit com actors are not comedians, Schwimmer and Aniston don’t belong on the list.

And I agree that Colbert and Stewart don’t belong on here.

jonsblond's avatar

@zenvelo Schwimmer did do some stand up in his early days, but I agree with you.

@filmfann Coulter, a comedian? She says funny shit, but she isn’t a comedian.—or am I thinking of someone else?

filmfann's avatar

@jonsblond She isn’t a newsperson, and her commentary is usually too absurd to be rooted in any kind of reason. I consider her a performance artist of hate, which is very much like a comedian.

amujinx's avatar

Bill Maher is hit or miss for me, but wouldn’t make my list. I like Mo Rocca from his bits on The Daily Show, but I don’t know his own comedy enough to comment on it. Colbert, Handler and Stewart should just not be on that list at all. I’ve always thought Whitney Cummings was one of the better roasters in the roasts I’ve watched, but haven’t heard enough of her own stuff to form enough of an opinion. At least none of my favorite comedians made the list (although most of my favorites are from the UK, and this is a very American biased list).
