What is something you assumed about another jelly, only to discover you were completely wrong?

i assumed that buttonstc and drdredd were guys and that rarebear was a woman.

it was only momentary… honest, but I thought each jelly really was their avatar.

That FutureMemory was a guy,... chick,.... dude,.... dudette…

I assumed @worriedguy was a gal. I am not that smart.

I’ve assumed the jelly was a jerk, but awww… was wrong—wanted to be friends but think I ran him/her off…

The only assumptions that turn out to be wrong (that I know of) are in regards to the sex (not gender) of certain jellies. I thought ragingloli was a girl for soo long.

So far my assumptions have borne out. I don’t make assumptions regularly or lightly, so that probably helps.

I thought Zen (in various incarnations) was a ♀ for the longest time. I typically guess older folks are younger than they are (thought some 50–60 year olds were 30–40) and that younger folks are younger than they are (thought some 18–25 year olds were 12–16) . . .

Recently I tought a jelly must be 16 and they wound up to be 26. Then there are 14 year olds on here who are way beyond there years, very impressive. I guess wrong all of the time, gender, age, country, state, etc, etc.

For some time, months, I thought Dog was male. And there was kind of a strange effect for me when I learned otherwise: it turned out that the personality I had formed in my mind around the name through seeing many posts didn’t transfer neatly to a female being. I had to scratch and start over. And so . . . and so I found that I missed the person I thought was Dog, who never existed, even as I enjoyed getting to know another Dog.

I first thought @Fiddle was quite young, like 14 or 15, judging by some pics he used as avatars from when he was younger. Got quite a shock when he changed it to a recent one lol!

And until just a few days ago I thought @MyNewtBoobs was My New Boobs and I couldn’t figure out why she’d want to get implants.

I also thought, and still do, and am never sure, that a few jellies are actually trolls.

I assumed @zen and @wudayatta were the same person so he/she could get 6 questions per day.~

Yes, my latest little misunderstanding seems totally epic, in my head, at least. There’s a user on here, but I forgot his username. He has an avatar of some dude with a mustache. It’s like a painting. I always assumed that this person was in their fifties or sixties. Apparently, he’s only a few years after teenagehood. He certainly has a unique writing style and views that a lot of folks in their early twenties don’t have. I don’t agree with everything he says, but he’s left me very impressed, quite often.

Our beloved Dog has taken some time off from the site to care for an ailing family member. We miss her terribly.
