Back 35 years ago, John Lennon lost a bet to Elton John, and had to play 3 songs with Eltons band in a concert at Madison Square Garden. They did Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Whatever Gets You Thru The Night, which were both big hits. Elton then chose an old Beatle song to do, and picked I Saw Her Standing There, which was an odd pick because Paul sang lead on the original.
What song would you have requested?

I would have gone with Twist And Shout.
This question courtesy of my wife’s smartphone. How cool is that?
Twist and Shout is a great choice, I would choose In My Life.
I would have loved to have heard John do Tiptoe Through The Tulips.
@filmfann . . . I have been a lifelong Beatles fan and heard innumerable versions of the Beatles catalog. They are all fantastic songs but they’ve all been done plenty of times.
As a tongue in cheek kind of guy himself, I think John’s take on the Tiny Tim classic would have been surprising and highly entertaining.
Hmm… okay, but if ur gonna do that, why not go with That’s alright Mama or something by Dylan, which he would have dug

If Eric Clapton was an option, I would have had them do Yer Blues, sans Yoko.
Hmmm, Dylan. I would have John and John do a duet covering, It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.

That middle eight’s pretty sophisticated for a pop song. Well done, John.
Fool on the Hill. I’d love to say some bullshit like, what a fitting song for losing a bet! But that would mean I didn’t understand the song worth two shits.
I’d request that just cuz it’s awesome, and Lenon may not be God, but he sure as Hell be Jesus. :)
