Since all questions appear to the public as "being edited" when they are modded, what do questions look like that have been blocked?

Asked by ANef_is_Enuf (26839points) May 29th, 2011

For example, if I have a question sent back with a typo, I have the option to abandon it or edit it and resubmit.
What about spam or questions that have been deleted? Do they look different to the poster? Are they not given the option to edit, or do they have that option, and then the question is not approved for reposting?

Does my question make sense?

Questions that are rejected by us (either outright, in the case of spam and such) or after editing has failed to fix the problems say “this question is closed” and no longer say “this question is being edited”. I think.

Some questions never get abandoned or rejected, and I think they will always say “blah blah edited”.

@augustlan so questions that are outright rejected show as “this discussion is closed” to the public – but what kind of notification does the poster receive?

What I mean is that, if I have a question sent back, I get the option of editing. Do rejected questions always have that option, or is there a separate message that is sent in cases of questions that don’t get a second chance?

Questions that have absolutely no chance of being reposted can be removed without sending any notification to the asker at all. Like, if it’s spam, and we’re going to ban the spammer. Or trolling and we’re going to ban the troll.

Edit: However, we usually don’t go to the trouble of making sure they don’t get notified. It’s automatically set to notify, so it’s an extra step to stop the notification process.

Aha. That makes sense. That’s pretty much what I was wondering. Thanks! :)

When I failed to satisfy the gods I mean the mods, my question just checks into the Twighlight Zone and I never see it again. :-P Just like it was caught up by the KGB in the dead of night.
