Where can I find a rice-cooker that does not have a teflon or non-stick pot?

I love my rice cooker but I’ve noticed that the teflon coating on the pot is starting to chip away. I’ve read a bunch of articles about teflon having toxic ingredients. I’ve gotten rid of all my teflon pans and use stainless steel or cast iron – the only thing in my kitchen that still has teflon is my rice cooker. Now that the nonstick coating is chipping off I definitely should get rid of it. But is there such a thing as a rice-cooker that doesn’t have a nonstick coating on the bottom?

This company has lots of cool stuff besides rice cookers, so check it out. However but I’m sure it’s not the only stainless cooker out there. By the way, I simply did a search for “glass rice cooker”. Try other searches such as “teflon free rice cooker”, or similar options.

The Miracle one that you both link to looks great – except that it only comes in one size, an 8-cup capacity. I’m looking for something a little smaller – my current rice cooker is about half that size…

There are plastic steamers. I’ve never seen one in action, though, I can’t vouch for their effectiveness. I like the idea better of stainless and glass models linked by @snowberry and @Kardamom .

But FWIW: Black & Decker Handy Steamer

I think the best one would be a bamboo rice steamer

Buy a cuckoo rice cooker. It’s a South Korean brand.

Teflon is non-toxic until you heat it up to 500°F. That’s why it can be used in a lot of implants as a slippery surface. The fluorine atoms are very strongly bonded to the carbon atoms in the teflon molecules, so won’t escape without a lot of heat.

I like @Kardamom suggestion to get a stainless steel cook pot. Avoid the aluminum inner pot models you don’t want to ingest aluminum. Stainless steel is easier to clean too IMHO.
