How can we get a candlewax stain out of our dining room table?

Asked by responsible (35points) April 25th, 2008

The candle was a small pink candle. The stain is perfectly blended into the finish and was discovered after we removed the wax which had dripped onto the table. The table is very light (almost white) Thomasville..

Try Oxyclean.

Place a cotton cloth over the stain and then use an iron (turn of the steam) to heat both the cloth and stain up. The wax should soak into the cloth. You want a cloth that isn’t perfectly uniform or too flat for best results. If in a pinch, a paper towel might work.

Boy, I wish that worked with the iron… but I have the same problem… and I already tried that and it didn’t work for me. Any other suggestions…. My stain is bright red on a walnut finish on pine.

It works only if the wax isn’t too deep into the wood itself. If it’s seeped in too far, your only choice is too sand down the area, use a filler to hide the wax and refinish.

Thanks. Anyone else have an idea?
