Other great ways to store comic books and books?

Asked by delirium (13718points) April 25th, 2008

I recently discovered a completely incredible way of storing vast (valuable) parts of my comic collection and protecting them from being low enough that anything could get to them. I’m managing it by buying those massive (19” airtight and watertight) ziplock bags and hanging them on hangers in a comic-closet type situation. It keeps them off the floor, dry, protected, and doesn’t take up as much room as boxes seem to. I can also keep them separated by series/author/artist.
Are there any other ways anyone else can think of to keep them in good condition and out of the way? What about books? I’m trying to find perfect storage for my less-read-but-worth-it-to-keep books where they’ll open up a bookshelf or two (the house has over 5000 books. Room is an issue) so that I can reorganize and clear space. I don’t want them out on shelves because there’s only so much wall space to go around.

Store them in acid-free materials in a dark, cool, dry place.
