How do I get New Tabs to open to the Google Search page?

When I open a New Tab in Firefox, I would like it to open to the Google Search page. The Google page isn’t my Home page, but I would like to make it so that it’s what opens when I open a New Tab. How do I do this?
Thank you

1. Chrome is so much better than FF.
2. If you must use FF, there is no need to have the google homepage/search screen appear. Just type your search criteria into the address bar (where you would normally type the URL).
@tom_g But then it directs me to Bing (which I don’t like to use), and I don’t know how to change that. And for some reason, whenever I try to download Chrome (which I love), it never loads on my computer
That is horrible. Here’s how to undo that setting….
1. Type about:config in the URL bar
2. In the Filter box, type keyword.URL
3. Double-click and paste this in: “http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=” (without quotes)
NOTE: I edited the above. (sorry)

Step 1. Open up the website you want to be your home page.
Step 2. Click on the icon to the left of the web address, drag it to the Home button and then let go.
Step 3. Click Yes to set this as your home page.
A few things. You might have installed something funky to change the search to Bing. Probably a worthless toolbar changed it. You might be able to change it in the search bar thing. If not let me know and we can clean that up for you.
And I would just visit about:config
and change browser.search.openintab
to true. This should help. That will open what you search for in the search field in a new tab. It is a Boolean value and set to false by default. You want to toggle it to true
.
In firefox, I use the search bar next to the address bar (and i’ve selected Google as the default search engine from the dropdown menu on the search bar itself)
So, i just open a new tab, type my search query in the search bar, and hit enter to get the Google results! As simple as that!
I have an issue with that also. When I click on a little square to get a new tab, I get a page that asks me what I want to do. It’s very confusing. I’m going to have the family computer technician (my computer Whiz Hubby) look at it tonight.
