I wonder if it’s because Lurve was instituted. Do you notice
people are publicly saying very caring things to each other?

I’ve noticed more snapping….
Definitely not as much friendliness and looseness as Yahoo.
I love Fluther more because of it’s brilliant community regardless, I’d like to see way more friendliness personally….
I’ve received some very nice comments, even very random ones, to the effect of what you mention from some people on this site. I don’t know what it was like before.
Mirza are you saying that the chat room is the cause of this?
susanc you came in a time of one of the rough patches. Fluther was pretty friendly before it seems like its finally starting to get back to normal around here.
I’ve been around for a year or so. It just seems like people are teasing each other in a nice way, having more fun, giving very heartfelt advice.
What’s the deal with the chat room theory? though? Maybe that’s it (unless it’s all in my head).
I too have seen some snapping, seems like it was new-immigrant stress, but it’s
relaxing.
egh sorry i saw the wrong year in your profile, my apologies ^_^. As far as the chat room theory i do agree with it helping somewhat with this. I cant speak for mirza but some members myself included spend quite a bit of time in there so we all get to know each other much better thus making us closer and friendlier.
I just tried it out and you were in there!!!
It was very silly!! I see your point then – mirza’s point.
I started in jan 08, and this place seems like any other message board I’ve been to. you have noobs who post dumb comments, you have guys who answer their own post, you have fanboys who start fights when their beloved is questioned, and you have popular people you don’t quite understand why they get lurve for what they say but they always do.
Typical Internet community if you ask me.
I am a new kid in the block sort of speak, so far ppl have been friendly, seen good, so so and dumb questions too. I guess it all depends on my interests and what I consider trivial. But I would say that in every community when the dust settles it all come to the same type of environment. In the end is up to the members to allow things to happen as well as up to admin.
I’ve been coming here less than a month, but my experience so far is that people that have gotten to know one another are quite supportive of each other and I like the way people tend to thank others for good contributions to their questions.
I don’t think there’s a ‘touchy feely’ culture on here, but at the same time, doesn’t take long to realise that positive reinforcement doesn’t cost you anything and it’s unlikely to be moderated. The opposite is, well, opposite.
Personally I think the atmosphere is great and I’ve taken it as a good sign that people occasionally leave a kudos comment, using personal comments, but so far I haven’t received any vicious private comments….those have been kept to the threads. Considering that’s the public domain and subject to moderators, I’d say that’s a sign of an overall positive ‘collective’
“I Lurve you man”.....
I Lurve all of you….
Well maybe not all, but most of you….
I think the attitudes you are noticing are just part of the ebb and flow of any internet community. I do have to say that I like the fact that drama is not tolerated well here. I haven’t checked out the chatroom yet, but I’ll pop in sometime soon.
Thanks allm from an internet community virgin. Uh, recently ex-virgin.
@wildflower: How did you rack up 1585 in less than a month?! Impressive!
A broken clock is right twice a day…...
