Any tips for how I can improve my slow dancing skills?

I’m pretty good at fast dancing, but when it comes to slow stuff like ballroom and Waltzing I always back away. I feel very hesitant towards it.
Any tips on how I can overcome my hesitance and become better at dancing with a partner?

Take some lessons. There are a million dance classes over here on offer. It’s fun. Do you have a special partner to dance with? If so, drag them along. If not, you might meet one!
Take a class. Absolutely. If you can’t find classes locally, advertise on Craigslist for private lessons. Somebody will respond. Take a friend along, I guarantee you will have fun.
As a straight, white, middle-aged male I am the in the LEAST capable demographic for dancing, and I have actually taken classes four times before attending big weddings and it was worth every minute and every penny.
Big fun, huge fun, do it!
I’m not sure if I can afford dance classes :-/
Check your local recreation department, they may have inexpensive lessons. Or check online for clubs and groups. I don’t know if you’re near a big city, but check meetup.com for possible dance groups.

That’s OK.
Barter for classes? Throw a let’s-learn-to-slow-dance-party? Host ‘Dancing with the Stars’ TV watching night at your place? I dunno, I am just throwing out ideas. I am very shy and dancing is both very tough and very rewarding for me.
The whole idea of dancing is going out on a limb and publicly doing something pretty silly, so if you wanna dance, maybe a ridiculous party is the way to go.
@jaytkay LOL! Yeah, good idea :) I might just try that.
Take lessons.
Or just lean back when it comes to slow dancing.
OR enjoy your partner while dancing and you won’t even notice the others around you.
Practice with cement shoes…those will slow you down a lot! ;)
@queenie Vinnie at the Pavers R Us! garden center can custom make a pair for you! ;)
