What is a good store for petite plus sizes?

Since I had my baby, I’ve had trouble taking the weight off. I now would rather wear clothes that fit than have nothing to wear and lots of clothing in holding.
I’ve always been short waisted with short legs, so I need petite. I’ve always been a bit frustrated with buying off the rack in petites. The variety isn’t as good as the regular sizes, but I have no talent for sewing at all. Plus sizes lack the same variety and many stores don’t even have a petite plus size section. When they do have a petite plus, there is practically nothing worth getting in it.
I’ve resorted to buying plus size capri pants and wearing them as regular pants. (My legs are VERY short!) I also sometimes buy skirts and hike them up Urkel style (almost under my armpits) so the hemline is OK. This is getting silly and I’d like to buy clothes that FIT for a change.
What I’d like is any suggestions about where to shop OR any advice about shopping online and getting a fit. I’ve never been brave enough to try buying clothes online.

When in your situation I liked Chicos and Dress Barn.
@Judi It doesn’t look like Dress Barn carries petites larger than size 16. Chicos doesn’t seem have anything bigger than size 4. (4!!!)
I believe The Gap has petite jeans that go up to either 20 or 22. Torrid might have something for you. I shop a lot at Target for the plus sizes.
@keobooks that is just Chico’s unique sizing. A 4 by Chico’s standards is actually a size 20 by standard sizing.
I just so happened to look that up specifically because I used to work for a plus sized/petite woman who obsessed over Chico’s, so that didn’t sound right to me. They really do have beautiful items.
@ANef_is_Enuf Thanks for explaining that. I was so confused. There is a store very near my house. It’s 1 am here so I think that threw me.
Chico’s size 4 is very large. ;-) more like a 20. Vanity sizing..
My mom does her best at Macy’s or JC Penney’s but I don’t then she has even looked at Kohl’s yets because I noticed the other day they have a huge selection of petite plus sizes, which she wears. Plus you get your choice of designer vs non designer. Good Luck.
PS I watched a special on Michael Korrs the other day and he says a good designer is able to dress any body type regardless of size. Don’t panic about the baby weight once you are able to get moving and put the little one in the kids watch you can go workout for a little bit.
Coldwater Creek is my favorite. My mom is a plus size petite and I like their clothes because they’re tailored versions of regular clothes, not all to-your-knees tunics and slinky stretch pants. I also like J. Jill and Chico’s but their look and fit isn’t as tailored.
