Is it legal for Americans to buy prescription medication from Canada so long as they have a valid script?
The FDA has decided to discontinue one of my most beloved meds in all its forms, because no one ever proved in a study that it worked, and now that it’s generic, no one wants to. This is totally unacceptable. So, can I get it from a Canadian pharmacy, and if so, how?

Try calling Doctorsolve and see if they stock the drug and can fill it with your Dr.‘s Rx. I used it all the time to get drugs that were discontinued or just cheaper. It is legal.
@Blueroses They say they don’t carry it because it’s a controlled substance (C-IV). So that’s a bummer.
@Rarebear Do you actually know this? Not just have patients who do it and thus assume it’s legal, but know that it’s legal?
@MyNewtBoobs I’ve never had a problem with it. Not sure about controlled substances, though—that’s I’ve never done.
@Rarebear would a US doc write a script for a med the FDA have discontinued?
@Lightlyseared Yes. I mean, I don’t know about all of them, but I know at least 4 who do and have.
I’ve written scripts for medications that haven’t been approved in the US yet.
With it being discontinued by the FDA, you may actually have to make a trip to Canada and see a Dr. licensed to prescribe in Canada.
I believe it’s legal. My sister n law gets her medication from a Canadian pharmacy delivered right here to the house. The drug is not FDA approved here in the states but is readily available in Canada.
@silky1 What Canadian pharmacy? I’m having trouble figuring which ones are valid, and which ones are scams.
@silky1 It’s just a matter of time until she gets a letter from the FDA saying they confiscated it at the border. She will not be in trouble, but will lose her money.
