I cannot reformat my 8gb Ativa Memory stick. Windows is unable to complete the reformat. Any ideas?

Open up a command prompt (Start > Run, “cmd”), and type in the following.
format x: /fs:FAT32 /x
Be sure to replace the first “x” with the drive letter that corresponds to the memory stick. (Windows Key+E will open My Computer. You will find it here.)
Once formatting completes, you will be asked for a volume label. Any name will do.
Tried that but got a ‘Invalid media or Track 0 bad – disk unusable’. The stick is in warranty so I’m trying to get it replaced. Will probably get a different make.
Yes, this sounds like a hardware issue now. You could demagnetize it and reformat or simply use the warrantee.
