How much liquids do you drink each day ?

Asked by Hibernate (9091points) June 10th, 2011

Some say one needs to drink around 2 liters per day [ more in the summer time ].
I don’t know if it’s true or false because I know people who barely drink a glass each day and people like myself who drink ~ 4 liters per day ^^

How much do you drink ?

1–2 liters of water, along with milk, juice, and smoothies. I may have a few sips of cola every few months, and I don’t drink alcohol too often.
It’s a big step up from hardly ever drinking anything.

Half a liter of milk, half a liter of juice, can of coke, bottle of beer every now and then, few cups of water, one coffee, one tea, ah…, and another coke.
That’ll be all, thank you very much.

Not enough at the moment…orange urine the other day :( not good :(

I don’t measure it… I drink when I’m thirsty. :P

As much as I could. I usually drink a couple of glass every few hours when I’m at home and less when I’m out due to dissatisfaction of using public restroom. It’s good for my skin and that’s my main reason to drink a lot of water. I don’t drink soda and alcohol, they’re not good for my skin.

2 liters is a good goal to aim for. It’s more than enough for your average healthy person. It is possible to drink too much water, but unless you’re downing 2 liters in the course of an hour or something, there’s no way 2 liters of water is going to hurt you. It’s better to drink on the high side of average than the low side. 1 glass is not enough!

I’m not sure exactly how much I drink. I bring a water bottle with me wherever I go and I’m constantly taking sips from it. I probably refill it at least four or five times a day, and it’s a pretty large bottle. I personally should probably be drinking at least 4 liters a day, because of my lack of colon and because I get kidney stones. I’m probably not quite reaching that goal right now, but I think I’m close.

Enough so my pee is clear and slightly yellow. It varies depending upon the weather, what and how much I eat, and how much physical activity I do.
Typically 1200–1500 ml.

I drink buckets of water, an occasional diet soda, but, mostly water.

Enough to have to pee about every 30 minutes, except before bed. My cut off is about 45 minutes before bed, so baby sleeps well without needing to go to the bathroom. haha

16–24 oz of Coke.

Not as much as I should to be honest.
Some milk/coffee in the morning, juice in the afternoon… water, fizzy drink, tea later on in the evening. And a pint of milk every night.
Still not the recommended amount of water though.

Lots….coffee water you name it.

I’ve heard that the 8 glasses of water a day is not really needed. If you drink when you need to, you’re ok. You’re body knows what is good for it.

Facade's avatar

@wundayatta Actually, symptoms of dehydration include not feeling thirsty, so it really is good to drink enough to keep your pee clear and relatively odorless.

Straight water – 1 to 2 liters. Then there’s coffee every day and the occasional glass of wine. Plus the water that’s in our food.

Not much. One mug of cappucino, one glass of water, 8oz of cold green tea, 8 oz of milk, maybe a little apple juice.

You need on average (assuming healthy kidineys) about 1 litre of fluid a day. This includes fluid from food and on average the food you eat in a day probably contains this, so it is possible to live without drinking any additional water. It also doesn’t make much difference if its pure water, coffee or whaterver.

The body is amazing adept at sorting all this stuff out without you needing to worry about it. I mean we were managing perfectly well for years long before some idiot thought up the 8 glass rule.

Aster's avatar

@Lightlyseared good point. How did he know it shouldn’t be 7 glasses? Or 9?

About six 8oz. bittles of water a day; plus one medium (20oz.?) ice coffee in the morning. In the summer, I’ll toss in one or two Vitamin Water Zeros.

144 oz+ of water that has mixed with barley, hops, and yeast.

i like it to ferment a bit before i drink it

downtide's avatar

About a litre and a half a day. Most of this is decaff coffee. The rest is beer.

1.5–2 litres of water a day & several cups of tea.

Ajulutsikael's avatar

I’m always drinking water. I must drink 6 cups of water a day and some juice.

BarnacleBill's avatar

4 cups of coffee, 2 big glasses of water (24 oz.) and a 16 oz glass of ice tea. Just about every day. Occasionally, a coke or a beer. If I eat out, I only drink water.

Bellatrix's avatar

Quite a lot. I consciously aim to drink a lot. I have probably about five cups of tea and I constantly have a bottle of water with me and on my desk which I top up. I try to drink at least a couple of litres of water a day. I know when I haven’t done this.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Maybe about 12 oz. coffee and a liter of water (I have a bottle that I top up as well).

rock4ever's avatar

I only drink at the most once a week. I get most of my liquid intake from my food. There is one exception which is when spring/summer first come along then I drink a couple glasses a day until I’m used to the heat.

nailpolishfanatic's avatar

Not able to measure. I always carry a bottle of water with me wherever I go. At home I go crazy when the is a special juice that I like.
