How do I hook up my iPod to our 2003 Chevy Suburban?

We’re on a roadtrip and I’m trying to connect my iPod Touch to the onboard speaker system in our 2003 Chevy Suburban. I’ve got an iPod to RCA cable and the car has several sets of RCA ports, one inside the glove compartment and one at the base of the center console facing the back seats. We get sound when playing DVDs and through the radio, and we’ve been able to play sound through both these sets of ports previously. I think I’ve pushed all the right buttons and twiddled all the right dials. I’ve tuned the radio to 88.1 and turned on the sound system via the switch inside the center console. What am I doing wrong? Do these RCA ports not work for audio input?

The cable probably isnt supported by the iPod, and have you tried all the RCA ports? If all faisl jsut go and get a $15 ipod charger/fm transmiter from canadian tire or something.
If there is a tape deck, get an adapter for that. Stick in the adapter, plug in the iPod and go.
I also go through my tape deck, so I would try that if possible.
Also, outputs are not inputs. Failing the cassette adapter, you probably need to hook the cable to the back of the stereo, assuming it even has the ports for, say, an external CD changer. There is a reason I like stereos that have a 3.5mm “Line In” port on the front.
Changing the radio to 88.1 only works for FM modulators, and even then not always; the last one I had did four different channels, so the right station to set my radio to depended on how the switches on the modulator were set. (Often 107.9 in my case, so as not to get interference from a local NPR station.)
I use an ipod fm transmitter and haven’t had any issues.
@PluckyDog It depends on what radio stations are in your area.
