I don’t have £999 minimum for a Brand new Mac laptop , so I thought bought refurbished models .
Is there somewhere that offers such service , what should I look out for when buying used/refurb models .?

Apple?
Also argos have the 13inch MacBook pro for £899 (just saw it on their website).
Apple sells refurbished Macs, and they are the most reputable. :)
I haven’t done it myself (but plan to in the near future). However, I am told that you can install Mac4Lin over the top of Linux and have yourself a Mac equivalent. Any old crappy laptop will do and most Linux distributions are free.
Ubuntu is a pretty darned functional desktop system and is free. Haven’t tried Mac4Lin on top of it, but don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Apple is a hardware company, not a software company. Running the OS doesn’t make it a Mac.
@squirbel True, but from a user perspective you get the same interface and application support for a fraction of the cost.
The OS is only 30 bucks. lol.
Can it be installed on low cost non-mac hardware?
Just found this: Apparently yes…
I run OS X on a box of parts. But I wouldn’t suggest it on a laptop.
You can get refurb at Apple, and I’d probably have to choose going directly to Apple for refurb, reason being that if anyone is going to stand behind a refurbished product, it’s going to have to be the original maker of said product.
I bought a refurbished iMac directly from Apple a few months ago. No regrets.
Refurbs purchased directly from Apple.com have consistently had a good reputation unchanged over the years.
They are also eligible for the exact same level and length of time for Applecare as those purchased brand new.
I’m typing this on a 13” Macbook Pro I bought a few years ago as a re-furb. I love it, use it all the time, travel regularly with it and have never had a problem. Highly recommended.
