It is how our body restores, heals, and grows. Evolution, nature, God, whaetver you want ro pick seems to have found it very necessary, because while we sleep we are more vulnerable, yet we need it to survive, without sleep we go mentally insane, and eventually become physically ill, in time resulting in death.
So. Stay awake then. Nobody is making you go to sleep. Hey…. @jca… @QueenOfNowhere can be our very own research wabbit! See if all that research is true!
Sleeping is awesome. I like being in my bed, because it’s all soft. Plus I get fucked up dreams, so that’s cool.
I don’t dream much these days, because of all the drinking, but it still feels awesome. And like, I’ll get sick or die if I force myself to stay awake.
Still though, I see your point. There is stuff I could be doing instead of sleeping, I guess…return to the earth? Time enough for the earth when I’m dead.
Because my body tells me I have to and because my wife tells me to come to bed. If it weren’t for the latter, I would stay up until 3 or 4 most nights. I’d gradually become manic and not sleep all night. It is not an unattractive idea, but alas, it is not to be mine.
I used to feel that way when I was a kid, so much to do, so little time. Apparently we spend a third of our lives asleep. I mean, that’s like 25 years or so!!!! I’m okay with it now though, as long as I get my bedtime story & cup of cocoa i’m good to go!
Sleep is a good investment. You are mistaken that you lose time when you sleep. The opposite is true. If you don’t get enough sleep you lose time during the day. Because you have to learn the same stuff over and over again.
