What are the tips of cords called? ie headphone tip?

You know the part that goes into the device? What is that tip called?

Normal headphones use a 1/8 inch mini plug.

Aren’t those the ones that studio producers use?

I’m just talking ipod type :D

iPod uses 1/8. The bigger ones on high end stuff are ¼.

Is 1/8 the same as 3.5mm?

The very tip of a TRS connector (or audio jack) up to the insulating ring is called… the tip, followed by the “ring” and the “sleeve”.

And yes, the 1/8” mini-jack is the name for it here in America.
