What is a good brand of treadmill?

Asked by lucillelucillelucille (34325points) June 22nd, 2011

I have managed to outlive my treadmill and am looking to buy another as soon as possible. What brand is well made? Would it be cheaper to get a replacement motor?

I have had a Vision Fitness for at least ten years. I use it every other day and it seems to be fine. It’s a T9100; has a simple console; Time, Distance, Speed, Calories, Elevation and a safety clip. (No fancy programming but you can easily do the fiddling yourself.)

The newer generation version of this seems to be the T9200. I did also buy the rubber mat to put under it in order to protect my pine floors.

This research may help. And, here’s more indepth reviewing of treadmills.

I don’t know anything about the cost of replacing the motor of your treadmill. If you really like the one you have, it may be worth considering.

@gailcalled That is all I really need.I have pine floors too,so the rubber mat is a good idea.
Thank you for the link! :)
@PluckyDog-It seems replacing the motor will be more trouble than it’s worth! Thank you for the links :)

@lucillelucillelucille: I bought mine from a large fitness center in a neighboring small city. So I was able to try it out and also have it delivered, set up and occasionally serviced.

I watch 15 minutes of Wheel of Fortune and 30 minutes of Jeopardy! so the time passes quickly.

I like to read while on mine but I need one with a book holder!

@lucillelucillelucille: I would bet that ordering a book holder would be the easiest part of the process.
