Odd? Not really. Tons of straight women love seeing gay porn, most straight men love seeing lesbian porn… clearly, we don’t just stick with the sex we ourselves would have. Plus, I once heard something about since womens’ sexuality is all internal, seeing sexuality that’s all external can help get the juices flowing…

It’s paradoxical, but in the context of what my wife and I would rather watch, I don’t think it’s the least bit odd.

I’m basically hetero, and I would rather watch lesbian porn. My wife is hetero, and she told me that she would also prefer watching lesbian porn as opposed to watching two men having sex.

I’d also rather watch lesbian porn than I would hetero porn, and I didn’t ask my wife about her preference regarding that.

I forget the movie’s title, but there is a great discussion involving a lesbian mother and her teen kid who discovers gay male porn in his moms’ (plural) bedroom. The mom explains that she and her partner watch it because the want to see an externalized expression of arousal/sexuality, since they don’t have that option with each other.

That made loads of sense to me.

Most (free) porn is down right stupid. There’s relatively no heart or soul.

With lesbian porn, the actresses are playing (mostly) to men. They are acting. They don’t show the soft (or rough) sensual romance or arousal in its natural sense. IMO it seems to be mostly straight women faking it to a male audience for the money.

Straight and gay male porn – well, while it’s still acting, ya can’t fake a woodie.

For me (as a lesbian with some bi tendencies), I’m turned on by seeing and hearing someone honestly aroused or authentically sensual. So, straigt and gay male porn has worked for me. Lesbian porn – ick.

I’m getting tired of porn, though. It doesn’t fit my romantic, tender hearted self. When I watch it, instead of having any pleasure, I find myself thinking more about the negatives of the porn industry and the people getting hurt by it.

Generally, women prefer porn that has a story and is more romance based versus sex. The preference has really to do with the woman not her sexual preference. When it comes to women I don’t really find that many porn stars attractive. I also prefer the alternative look. I like the tattooed and pierced look on both men and women.

With porn I have varying tastes. I don’t care too much for story. I just want the sex.

It may have to do with budgets. Lesbian porn (made by women for women) is usually very low budget and lacking redeeming artistic value. Two women having sex (made by men for men) usually involves unnatural shoes being worn to bed and fingernails that would send most lesbians in the OPPOSITE direction. Straight porn (whatever combination of men and women) is at least made with a decent budget by someone who may have participated in a similar event at some point in their lifetime and, therefore, may at least resemble something vaguely looking like real life

@bob_ – sorry, but it’s true. I’ve yet to see lesbian porn that has any semblance of reality. Fake, all fake ;)

I think it really comes down to preference. I have straight male friends who like to watch gay, lesbian and straight porn. I have gay male friends who like to watch either gay or lesbian porn but nothing straight. And then I have lesbian friends who only get turned on by straight porn. They don’t really know why either.

When I check out porn, for me it’s the content and subject it borrows that intrigues me, rather than sexual orientation. It’s a big bonus for me if it’s amateur porn. I like the fake glamour shit yeah, but not as much as more realistic stuff with, as you say, doesn’t include silicone.

I don’t really pay attention to the acting or the setting, just the main attraction. (most people prolly do, with most porn) That’s my imagination’s cue to make me enjoy it, and make the crap in porn matter. In my head I make my ideal setting based on that porn’s premise, and then use what I saw being done as a main attraction. Porn is pretty cool for fantasies haha. But it’s weird how the lamest part of most porn, the setting, is what interests me the most even if I pay the least attention to it, usually, to place myself in after I get riled up enough by the main event.

@Symbeline You are probably too young to have ever seen this movie (regular movie, not porn) called I Wanna Hold Your Hand by Stephen Spielberg that came out around 1978. It’s about a group of friends in New York who try to get in to see The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Anyway, there is a hilarious scene in the movie, in which one of the teenaged girls (who is trying to get some money, so that she can buy a ticket to the show, contemplates having sex with a middle aged bald man). So she actually goes up to the room, and the while the man is still in the shower, the real prostitute that he ordered shows up, so the teenaged girl watches them from inside the closet. This bald middle aged man it turns out is into picnics and so he asks the hooker to spread mayonaise and mustard onto his bald head with a spatula. It’s really funny! And it just goes to show you that people are not always turned on by the usual things.
