Which classic films have you heard to be great but only after seeing it decades after made you realize it truly was splendid?

It is only recently that I started watching “Lawrence of Arabia” and 40 minutes into it, I already knew I was watching a great film. Have you a classic film that you delayed watching for years only to be mesmerized and awed by its sheer cinematic beauty and great story?
