Is there a word, or words, that you FINALLY learned how to spell correctly, thanks to spell check?
For me: “Banana” (I always swore it had two n’s, side by side in there somewhere, but it doesn’t) “vacuum” (oh…there they are! Upside down! Ha ha….. I always thought ‘vacuum’ had an ‘n’ on the end and “hilarious.” I just flat hosed ‘hilarous’ up all the time for and I have no excuse.
And you?

@marinelife What the hell does concomitantly even mean and why would you ever have to spell it??? : )
From Merriam Webster:
” accompanying especially in a subordinate or incidental way
— con·com·i·tant·ly adverb”
Good spelling is concomitant to having a good vocabulary.
Calendar, I always want to spell it Calander.
@chyna Good one. Me too. Also..get this…I have spelled “grammar,” “grammer” my whole life, until I discovered spell check. I usually used the word when I was clocking others on their grammar to boot! embarassed to look in the mirror!
Sep[a]rate and Relev[a]nt.
Nope. Actually I can’t spell any better with spell check than I did before it. I still spell phonetically, and spell check didn’t help any. If anything, because I use it I spell worse.
How is that possible, @GracieT? Do you have an example of how you spell worse now?
Graffiti, paparazzo, and paparazzi.
Believe it or not, “tomorrow”. I always used to use two ‘m’s in that one, until I taught myself to say “I’m going to morrow” in my head. I also used to have a lot of trouble with ‘necessary’ (same deal, thinking it had two ‘c’s.) The one that constantly vexes me now is ‘exercise’. Woot! I spelled it right, that time! Usually, I insist on screwing up the ‘c’ and ‘s’ and trying to add a ‘z’ in there (excersize is what I typically type until spell check scolds me.)
It SHOULD have a Z in it, @augustlan, if it makes you feel any better!
medieval…every f*ing time! I can NOT spell this word…..
@dutchesss_III, I can’t think of anything now, but I think I became so dependent on spell check I forgot what I knew.
@lazydaisy OK, read this: Medi eval. Like, an abbreviated form of “medical evaluation.” Medi eval. When you want to spell it, pronounce it as “medi eval” in your head. And now you won’t forget how to spell it! (That is a hard word, though. I think it’s because we want to associate it with the word “evil.”)
